Is the level of coverage of the AU BCSNC game on par with what you read and listened to last year for UA's run?

Are Barn fans happy with the amount of coverage from state newspapers, TV, and internet sites?

70% of this state are Bammer fans. The media slants their coverage accordingly.

It's about the same, best I can tell.

The only difference I see is not as many of the Jox personalities are heading out there this year. I think they sent just about all of them last year, and only 2 or 3 are going this year.

Let me give it to you like this...during the season, the B'ham News alternates teams every weekend to get a color spread. Without fail, every single time Alabama is in color and Auburn isn't, Auburn fans come out of the woodwork to complain about "Bama getting color and we ain't...y'all are biased"...they fire off letters to the paper...and my brother gets his panties in a wad EVERY SINGLE TIME.

So...

NEVER.

Do any of you see different angles in the coverage from last year?

Do you see more negatively slanted stories about Camgate and such, as opposed to feel good stories about Mark Ingrams incarcerated daddy? Do any of you notice a slight difference in WHAT they cover?

I haven't read a single newspaper since the Iron Bowl, and I don't read Auburn articles on the al.com website, so i couldn't tell you.

IMO, no.... It's good coverage but not the constant propaganda bombardment that took place during the UAT debacle last season....

Well there is a big difference in this year and last. Last year was the first time since 1992 that the state had a team in the championship game...this year the effect is not as big. Also there are more Bama fans in this state so I'm sure last year had a little more coverage. But overall the game has been hyped alot and meets my satisfaction..FWIW.

Well Luke, that's what i'm really asking. Is the feeling generally the same?

Was it more Rah Rah old state U last year, compared to right now? Im just interested in that dynamic and how it makes each fanbase feel.

I know that in Louisiana we got great coverage with all the great feel good stories, had an epic build up to the NC, and didn't have to wonder at all if any of the media was not providing their best possible coverage.

The thing is, it's hard for fans to be objective. I'm sure Auburn fans got sick of the coverage last year and probably got to a point where they felt that's all the state media was talking about. Hell, I'm a Bama fan and even I got fed up with the coverage last year.

Same this year with Bama fans.

I read the paper almost everyday, and from what I can tell the coverage has been about the same.

Re: Cam. Most of the state media have moved on and are ignoring the negative about him.

Thank you for a solid response.

NOW, if anyone feels that there is a more positive bias towards either Bama or AU... please give some examples.
Alabamites:
PLEASE don't let the "Saban is a builder" uber-rehash thread get more play than this...it will really diminish what I think of the SECR! Lol

I don't know about the papers or local TV coverage, but al.com coverage has not been the same this year...not even close.

Arkansas fan living in Huntsville. I think last years coverage of Bama NC game was somewhat broader. Papers and talk shows are doing a decent job of coverage this year, but it seems to be more slanted towards the "fluff" pieces. Point in fact was front page of the Huntsville Times (gag) today was a story blasting state politicians for being given access to buy tickets at face value, when most Auburn fans didn't get a chance.
