I don't know about the papers or local TV coverage, but al.com coverage has not been the same this year...not even close.

Really? I just went to the front page of al.com and there are ten instances of Auburn/BCSCG coverage on the main page. Countdown to game clock, video links, radio links, article about ticket demand, etc. Thats just the front page, before drilling any further into the sports sections, or specifically Auburn coverage.

I honestly think Auburn fans live in a perpetual state of "feeling like its all unfair"...known in the pseudomedical world as "Jan Brady Syndrome".

More 'Bama media > Auburn media.

However, I don't pay attention to Auburn stuff at all. So I guess I wouldn't know ?

We had that exact story here for every sugar bowl/ NC game.

Question is, did that story run last year as well?

Exactly. I'm not counting words or the number of color pictures used and writing letters to the editor about it.

If it did I missed it. This topic has heated up this year as some watchdog groups have been lobbying to stop the practice of giving free tickets to the Iron Bowl to state and local pols. So this may explain the front page coverage this year.

Go to al.com right now. There is a countdown at the top of the page. Last year, there was a huge headline with a list of stories at the top up until, and after the Rose Bowl.

During the season, there is a difference between the articles posted on al.com's main page every week. The Bama articles are more focused on their coaches and team. The Auburn articles are more focused on the opposing coaches and teams. The week of the Auburn/LSU game, there was a new "What LSU needs to do to beat Auburn" article every day.

There are also subtle differences. After both teams win, the headlines will read something like, "Bama Trounces Team A" and "Team B not enough to beat Auburn".

As in love with football as you all claim in Alabama, I just figured there would be many who see differences because they eat up every word, article, and picture.

I know that I notice biases and angles in media all the time. No, im not crazy, it happens.

I didn't say anything was unfair, did I?

The coverage is different. Bama had a huge headline at the top of al.com (much like they do split with Bama/Auburn on gameday).

As a neutral observer I don't really see this as much. Both teams get a generous amount of coverage, and of course its going to lean Bama in Tuscaloosa as it would lean Auburn in Auburn or Dothan. The major papers (if there really are any left in Al) all tend to have both Alabama and Auburn Beat Writers during the season. Some just do a better job than others, some are just comical homers.

I agree with this. They try to be fair. Al.com has two dedicated beat writers for each right now. It's hard not to let a little bit of bias to poke through, though. Most of it is pretty subtle.

I could honestly care less about it, but it's there. I find the tone that different outlets use interesting, so I notice it (not just in sports).

Don't know how the boogs feel about it, but whether it is TV or Radio, it is pretty much all barn all the time now that the Capital One bowl is past.

But in an average year, the 60/40 ratio Bama to Barn in coverage is about right and hat's about the ratio of Bama to Barn fans.
