Some.

The business community up here is bigger than just the Waltons.

We aren't poor, contrary to popular belief.

North of Little Rock should be it's own state. I wouldn't associate with those rednecks down in southern Ar-Kansas

They didn't name it Bud Walton Arena for nothing. True story, one day Bud Walton was in visiting with Frank Broyles and Frank had a mock up of the Arena set up. He told Bud that that was his dream basketball facility, Bud asked him how much it would cost to build, Frank replied that it would cost $30M , Bud looked at him and said "put me down for half" then they went to lunch. Another source of money is the Tyson family. I've heard that the new indoor track facilities cost Tysons $25M when it was all said and done.

Some do, some do not.

Of the 7 wealthiest people in America, 4 are Waltons according to Forbes.

Last night I was watching a CNBC special on Wally World and the President of the company had a Razorback statue on his desk.

Northwest Arkansas has billions of dollars and a business community of power and influence that is unmatched anywhere other than New York.

Don't forget Tyson Chicken, the worlds largest poultry producer, is a NW Arkansas company and Tyson built our Indoor Track facility.

They helped raise a billion dollars for the school over a ten year period. There used to be a sign in the SAM WALTON school of business that said "Thanks a billion"

A billion or so for the Business School.

The Walton Arts Center.

Tyson Indoor Track.

Bud Walton Arena.

The business community and vendors need entertainment so Arkansas ends up being the only game in town.

There's a song about it.

"Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire..."

How is NWA? I got an offer from Tyson Foods but I can't decide whether or not to take it. They pay very well too, far better than I expected. Would I hate myself as a 22 year old single male living in Springdale, AR?

You wouldn't want to live in Springdale, IMO.

You'd want to live in Fayetteville. Springdale is the crap-hole of NWA. Its still a nice town when compared to places like Greenville or West Memphis.

Fayetteville has the bars and night life. Rogers/Bentonville has the money (10 minutes north of Springdale) and better shopping.

Its a medium sized metro, 450k people, kinda spread out, but plenty going on.

Take the job!! NWA is one of the fastest growing highest income per household areas in the U.S.
It's a beautiful place with a whole lot to do both indoors and out.

Oh and there were Ole Miss fans at the sports bar last night. Nobody challenged them to a duel and nobody really actually made that much noise watching the game, except the OM fans.

I didn't see anybody say a word to them, actually.

We are not a highest income place in the U.S.

We are a fast growing, nice metro, though.

There is for real a lot more to do in NWA than people think. IF it were moving into the area, If I was 22 and moving into the area, I would choose Fayetteville to live in over Springdale, but the towns are like 5 minutes apart, so it's not they are on two different planets or something. Fayetteville just has that more of a college town feel, which it is of course, while Springdale definately gives off the Corporate Tysons vibe, which it is. Or less than 20 minutes away is either Rogers or Bentonville. I personally hate Bentonville, but Rogers is nice.

I'd say Silicon Valley has Hogsville beat any day of the week.

No not the highest, but NWA ranks high in average income per household.
Regardless the guy should take the job.

I really want to, but my other offer is in downtown Dallas, which would be really fun to live/work in. Are there lofts/condos in downtown Fayetteville where young professionals live?
