In the "sound off" section, a call-in for readers, the suggestion to "fire Saban and hire Les Miles...at least he knows how to win a bowl game". All other comments in section tuned to "emberassment" etc. Rats leave ship quickly.!! No sign of flags/magnets anywhere....

You could rub it in by saying Nick was lucky that we played the coach with the worst BCS record in the history of the BCS (Stoops) when he won his National Championship... other than that he's struggled in bowls (you can conveniently leave out the 2002 Sugar Bowl).

With the other wins coming against that nutcracker George O'Leary, and the vanished Ron Turner.
Seriously, a Bama fan saying "Give us Miles" is by the far the most bizarre thing I've heard in 2009.

quote:Following his acceptance of the Bama job, Saban's disrespect toward LSU was disgraceful. Some of the things he said and did will be unforgettable to Tiger Fans. Having said that, he just turned in what was IMO the best coaching job of his career. To have an SEC team ranked #1 for half the season while playing 16 Freshmen was phenominal.

If what you're saying about the Bama supporters is true, then that is one sad fanbase.

Sorry
guys, best I can do on link. I can't pull "sound off" up from it. Again , a dozen comments all calling for action on the 4 mill mis-spent. No doubt some from our alums and Auburns...but some from the turning Tide base. At the hiring I spoke with many a Crimson associate here noting their 99% acceptance of same( Couldn't blame them based on their desparate status at the time).Made point that within 3 years it would dwindle to 50-50 then 10/90 as years progressed. Judging from some of these comments and the lack of "A" flags out this weekend it is taking a turn. Our memory of the coaching performance by the same "savior" is favorable given 2003 and the overall resurgence of our program. Nonetheless, there is also Auburn 2004, late second Arkansas wins, Va Tech, and the finale at the Cap One Bowl...let time eventually decide ...we may be too close to the moment to fairly determine canonization....but for the moment , it's slip-sliding away...

Let's not forget UAB although Nick has already accomplished ULM at Bama.

Their fans are really off the charts. Years ago, we went to Gulf Shores and made a stop at the big outlet mall there. Went into a store (don't remember which one) and they had the 1992 Sugar Bowl game against Miami playing on all the TVs in the store. This was in about 1998. I asked what the occasion was that they were playing the game and the clerk told me that it was a tape that they play continuously....all day every day!
Posted on 1/4/09 at 11:14 am to Roovelroe
Bet that tape is pretty faded by now....lol..
Of course you can understand how they'd take satan hisself if they could get back to national limelight (or beat Aubrun regularly) after 16 year absence. Whole generation having to explain, "Well, before you wuz born we wuz sumthin'"....those "Got 12 ?" shirts are also a little worn.
