I'm sure some of yall who used uber in oxford during the brief time it was set up got this email, but I figured I would post it just in case. Just copy and paste this into an email from your accounts and send it. Takes 3 seconds and might make a difference

Subject: Bring Uber Back to Oxford

Rep. Hughes,

I am writing to urge you to support legislation that would ensure a permanent home for Uber in Mississippi. As a previous rider in Oxford, I support Uber because it is a safe, affordable, and reliable way to move around town. The Uber platform also creates local jobs where driver-partners have a new, flexible economic opportunity to supplement their income and make a better living on their own time. Please support ridesharing legislation and bring Uber back to Oxford.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

I wish uber was back in Oxford. Taxi service sucks. I hardly go to the square just because of how bad the taxis are.

I live and work in Jackson but it would be a pretty sweet job for college kids earning extra money.

We finally joined the 21st century with the beer laws, hopefully we can change the stupid taxi laws as well.

This is gonna sound a bit dramatic but this service could save lives by providing a cheap alternative to driving drunk. It's such a simple concept that it sounds stupid to even have to convince lawmakers of the benefits of this service.

Living in an area with Uber (ATL) and then trying to go back and use the Stone Age taxi system every time I go to Oxford blows. Email sent. Another annoying thing about the Oxford taxi system is having to ride with 20 other people going all over the damn town. It takes 30 minutes to get home some rides.

Mayor Patterson won't allow it to go through.

That's exactly why they don't allow it. DUIs are Oxford's lifeblood. That's why our landscaping is so nice.

I can see them allowing uber to operate but they force all the drivers to landscape on Saturday mornings to make up for the free labor they normally get

Why would anyone in Jackson House of Representatives want to create more jobs?

Do they still have the deal where the guys will drive your car home and then bicycle back to the Square? I've used that a couple of times.

So glad I no longer live in Mississippi.
This is just a microcosm of why the state sucks so much cock.

A thousand times this. The DUI industry keeps OPD in new Chargers and lawyers in their offices on the Square (on on the city council). Half the time I think the city encourages cabs to be inefficient or leave their phones off just to encourage kids to make horrible mistakes. Uber would kill all of it because it's not a flawed product.

It's scary how DUIs have turned into such a money maker for municipalities. Uber drivers in Lafayette and Baton Rouge were getting harassed for months by the cops. Protect and serve!

You can't even call an uber (unless its' an uber towncar maybe?) to pick you up at the NO airport.

In Atlanta they give out fines, but it's pretty impossible to enforce.

Doesn't the mayor own a taxi company? I think this is a case of him abusing power to protect his own pocket.

I thought the mayor owned the liquor store.
