How bad is our defense going to be next year?

No Fadol, Haynes, DJ jones and Conner. Will we have a pass rush next year?

Issac too

Secondary should be improved. Woods, Deontay, and Hartsfield will be solid safety's, and the Jalen's will be a year older at the CB spots.

Linebacker will be musical chairs

DL shouldn't be too bad, but we probably take a step back here. Benito will be a stud to build around, and the DE's sitting out this year (Coatney and Sheppard) could be good ones on the ends

So in other words, who tf knows

Shea - His footwork and technique is amazing right outta HS. The semi-professional IMG Academy is the real deal. I wish we could get more kids out of there. They're coached better in HS than we currently can at the college level.

I was impressed on his very first run when he capped it off with a not only sensible but very very controlled looking slide.

Agree pretty much this on defense. Defense Line should still be good in the middle with Speaks and Benito. I think Victor Evans has shown the potential to be a good starting end. We will have trouble finding that second defensive end starter though.

Secondary will be Real solid and will be our deepest position group besides wide receiver.

Linebackers for next year.... start praying for help now.

Our secondary is getting better every game.

LB will be interesting. Bing-Dukes and Willie Hibbler will hopefully take a step up at MLB. Stinger we will have Gates and then a few guys like Moore or Linton that could move over or a new face coming in.

DL Cotney will be pushing Speaks at DT. Benito will be a stud. Donnelly and Robertson will be some contributors. DE don't forget Wiley that guy is a freak. Also I'm not giving up on McDowell being a contributor.

They still have need a good bit of work to be considered a good SEC secondary. But for me watching the Jaylens are getting better at CB. They are more comfortable and making plays. They still need work but better. Anderson has been improving all season. So yeah I think the are getting better.

Hibbler is a redshirt freshmen that hasn't been a LB for a year and you want to quite on him.

I'm not quiteing anybody. Hibbler just isn't a linebacker. Square peg, round hole.

There is no doubt that he has the athletic ability...I saw him get to the play numerous times when he was in but he isn't physical enough (yet?) He does not have the fundamentals down (yet?). By that I mean he has to learn to violently shed blocks and wrap up (Auburn game). Right now he looks like a HS kid that is the most athletic on the field and thinks "if I lay a shoulder on him they will go down". That won't work in the SEC. The question is can he learn to do these skills moving forward.

My point exactly.

We're plugging in guys out of desperation.

We have no linebackers.

Why didn't we keep Shawn the brawn at LB? What was the point in moving him to the D-line

My guess is he's not fast enough. If you recall, he was a plan "C" option after multiple whiffs in recruiting. Again.

I was so hyped up for Shawn the Brawn. Dude's tape looked awesome, and it was also Miami High School Football.

It's sad that we will miss Taylor Polk next year.

I was too. Really thought he would be a steal out of the 15 class, not a highly recruited guy but came from Miami high school football. Didn't we flip him from Pitt on signing day? just further sucks that he hasn't panned out yet

Well Curtis has time he's just a freshman. We are just unfortunately in the business of having to try and rush kids along for serious playing time (see our entire secondary and some of the O line) that just are not ready for possibly a variety of reasons. At 250 he has that Bama backer size that we really need to plug up the middle and stuff the run. Maybe he just needs a little more time and another off season to mature.

I see where you're coming from, some kids need more time than others. but he's only a redshirt freshman, so hopefully this offseason he can get more accustomed to his role and be a major contributor for the next 3 years

Defense will likely suck again next year. If they are middle of the road consider it a huge win.

Don't know if it was a joke on Nafoom, but someone said he's hearing McGriff to DC is a huge possibility.
