Well there have been 23 five star QBs in the last decade and more than half have lived up to the expectation. As someone who literally just started a thread about how we haven't developed a high school QB in a decade you'd think you'd be ecstatic. If you can't get excited about the top ranked player why even follow recruiting?

We are Ole Miss and this all sets up to be a disappointment. Until Freeze can omit the questionable play calling and stop pissing away games in crucial moments, I have every right to remain skeptical. Yeah, I'm glad we landed Patterson but if I keep hearing all this "Bro, he's the one, this guy will take us to Atlanta. If he can't get it done then it'll never happen" rhetoric (and yes, I've heard dozens of people express that sentiment) then I just think this will find a way to somehow underwhelm. Do I want him to succeed? Hell yeah, I hope he's great. Basically I just don't think Freeze is a championship caliber coach. He's as good as Ole Miss can ever do but I just don't see him having that break out season. As far as the Freeze-Patterson tandem winning 10-11-12 games and being major players in the West, well.. I'll believe it when I see it

Of course you can be skeptical. Freeze has to get better with play calling and especially in the red zone. Going from 1st to last in three years is the most disconcerting stat on either side of the ball. However he also had the best recruiting class we've ever seen that started 3-0 for the first time since I was 4, 4-0 for the first time since 1970, and 7-0 for the first time in 52 years. This class will be better so I don't know what to expect but we are undeniably talented and will be for the next few years so enjoy it because it might never happen again.

I suggest you could NEVER be happy as an Ole Miss fan.... never. Even if we won the whole damn thing..... I am willing to bet you would not be happy. I am not saying your a State fan.... you are worse than that IMHO.

I completely agree that Freeze has some very questionable play calling. I often say on this board that I think he needs to hire a real OC.

He is a Championship caliber CEO type coach, but I think to get to a championship he really needs to bring in a bright proven offensive to manage to be OC.
None of these have anything to do with Patterson being talented. He could be a bust like Driskell, or he could be a heisman winner. None of us know. But I'll always be excited to have the #1 player in the recruiting class, regardless of bust possibility.

Just look at the bigger picture here, and enjoy the ride. Even if he never started in a single SEC game
