Allegedly forgot to pay for two bags of charcoal underneath his shopping cart in the self checkout line

How do you even get arrested for that? Wouldn't the self checkout watcher just stop you and say hey you forgot to pay for that?

I think it's already been established that he'll pay the approximately 40 bucks and the charges will be dropped.

Yeah I know, I just meant that should have been as far as it went. I mean if he refused then yeah, arrest him, but the cop should have just told him to go back to the grocery store or whatever. Hell, follow him there and make sure he does it but was an "arrest" really needed?
