I've never been before, so I'm wondering what the parking situation is like. Their website wasn't very helpful.

I did see where you have to park and walk/catch a shuttle to the amphitheater. Can anyone provide details?

Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated.

ETA: Thanks for the help fellas.

Last time I went was in about 09 but was way to deep into pregame. OAR concert, drinking a fifth of eagle rare was a poor decision I barely remember going and coming back with 2 other Rebs.

But I'm pretty sure you have to shuttle across the river on some overhanging the river.
I usually like parking at Peabody place tower when going to the river/downtown as its close to the river and has security and is easy to find when drunk.

After parking walk west from garage to river and walk down to the hub station.
There are closer side lots right off of riverside drive if you can find them as well.

We took a taxi to and from mud island for that event though.

Been to many a show there. I'd park in a garage on Front St. There are plenty of them, but I wouldn't park in the smaller garage on the west side of the street next to (the former) Confederate Park. When I worked downtown a few summers ago, my car was in a hit and run in that garage while I was at work, and the owner/manager can eat a bag of dicks. Half the security cameras were non-functional, and otherwise he did nothing to help me or MPD figure out who sideswiped my car and bailed.

There's a tram that runs from the Mud Island office building to the area on Mud Island where the amphitheater is. It crosses over part of the harbor. There's also parking on Mud Island itself, but I've always found it easier to park in Metro67's garage at Front and Madison.

Alabama Shakes? I'll be there.

Any garage near Front St. is good and don't wait for the hanging rail shuttle unless you really don't want to walk, they aren't that big. Most people just walk across the bridge above the monorail and it's no big deal. I actually enjoy the walk.

Fellow Rebears, thanks for all the helpful input. Some friends and I will be checking out the Alabama Shakes Friday night. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for us.

They put on a great show, and they should be fun at Mud Island. Enjoy

I'm not as Familiar with the downtown options as I am with midtown and the rest of memphis. Ive had good experiences at double Js and automatic slims but I'm not sure they're exactly what you're looking for. Also not sure how close they are in relation to the amphitheater.

As far as food goes, there's a lot in the area. Are you looking for standard American fare or what? Also, how much time are we talking and what's the general price range? Belle: A Southern Bistro is pretty close, and they have great food and service for reasonable prices. There's Huey's, known for their burgers, caddy corner to Autozone Park. On Main St. north of the Orpheum, you have Aldo's Pizza, Oshi Burger (burgers and alcoholic milk shakes), Local Gastropub (American gastro), Blue Fin (pizza/sushi), among others. Agave Maria (Nuevo Mexican) is in the area too. Y'all could also take the elevator to the top of Bass Pro ($10 a person, but you get a free cocktail at the top if you're over 21) and eat up there. North of the Mud Island foot bridge, there are a couple of decent places in the Pinch District, and south of the Orpheum you have a ton of options on South Main (near the National Civil Rights Museum).

I'm also just gonna throw this out there, there's Gus's and Central BBQ downtown too. If you've had neither, you should try both.

I'm not exactly sure how much time we will have to eat, but it won't be much since we'll be getting into town after 6 or so. Just looking for something within walking distance of parking and reasonably quick. Thanks for the suggestions.

It'd probably be quicker to park at wherever y'all eat and then go to one of the pay-to-park garages on Front since there aren't really any restaurants worth a damn on Front, at least near the foot bridge. There are definitely places within walking distance, but if y'all are pressed for time and want to eat, I'd go to Gus's or Central in S. Main (Central has its own free lot and Gus's has free street parking surrounding it) and then park at the garage at Front and Madison. Central is usually very quick to serve after ordering, and Downtown Gus's is the best chicken you'll get in Shelby County.
