It was our WR trips package that gave Bama fits last year. I don't think they'll be hip to it this year though.

Our offense will rely on our D to keep us in. And we will have to grind it out, field position wise to get points on the board. Avoiding turnovers is huge v Bama. QB play has got to be sensational (85+ QB rating), especially if we can't generate that run game. And to piggy back on Freeze, a few explosive plays on offense could be the difference and give us a W.

Do we think Kelly gets to do the read option more than we did last year? We didn't do it much last year and the running game suffered.

Only if Kelly is adept at sliding / avoiding taking licks. He isn't a glorified Fullback

Yeah but, doing it 1 every 6 plays or so could really help the running game I think. We didn't do it at all last year because we couldn't afford for Bo to get hurt and our running game stalled.

We obviously didn't need to do it against UT Martin and we don't need to do it against Fresno but, maybe against a D line like Bama's it could be needed.

I don't really think we can afford for Chad to get hurt either.

At this point the only thing that matters is #78. If he isnt on the field I don't care if you put Tom Brady back there....it aint gonna matter.

I understand that he's a significant loss but all this shite about the Bama game being impossible to win without him is starting to piss me off.

This.

He's a great lineman. The best we've ever had. But opponents like Bama take that into account in their gameplan. The game will be won or lost on hundreds of individual battles that go one throughout the game.

We can beat them but we have to play turn over free football and hold touchdowns to field goals we can win.

It may piss you off but we will just have to agree to disagree. I don't see a scenario where we win without him. The OL is deeper this year, but without Tunsil it changes the complexion completely.

But hey we beat LSU in 2013 with Youngblood starting on the DL, so anything is possible I guess.

I'm sure Freeze will inform his staff as soon as it's official.

There is an entire football team that will probably "agree to disagree" with you as well.

Neal is an idiot. He's also an outsider with the program.

Judd will be a good short yard back i believe.. He is not made for speed running.

It's seriously time and BEEN time for us to start developing bigger running backs that can produce the way those farmers in Starkville do. They've been way ahead of us in terms of doing this for years. I have never understood why we haven't ever been able to do this consistently. Aside from BJGE, who I don't think was that big, I could be wrong we've never had a consistent power back.

Deuce was a downhill runner. He just was elusive as well.

I think once the OL is developed those 5'10 210 pound backs start to look more like physical runners cause they are producing.

My biggest concern is the inability to develop qbs from the HS level. Who was the last HS qb that grew up in our system and was successful? Eli? Its kind of the case all over college football, everyone is getting the transfer qb.

Deuce was 12 years ago and was hurt his entire career. When he played he produced but anyways. That's a valid point and even before Eli who? My obsession with ole miss football started with Stewert Patridge and Romero in the late 1990s.
