Are those figures as the crow flies I assume? Google Maps has it at 520 miles from Lubbock to Houston (TX-36 S) and 598 from Oxford to Houston (I-55 to I-10), so that's only around an hour difference regardless.

And I had a friend in post-grad from Lubbock. He painted a pretty vivid picture of just how nowhere Lubbock is haha
