“We didn’t have a good day,” Bianco, his Super Regional record now 5-13, said. “Not a good day for us offensively, but not a good day for us all around. I thought we were poor on the mound. Didn’t make enough pitches. Quality of stuff, I thought, lacked. They were better than us.”

That is a fireable offense right there in bold.

That’s definitely a big Ooooof !

At the same time look at Godwin in Supers.

He’s now 1-6

He got backdoored is his first. He’s lost 6 straight games since winning the first against Texas Tech. Dive deeper in the numbers and you see that his teams have been outscored 26-1 and 6-1 in his last two. But we’d all take Cliff as our coach tomorrow except maybe Henry Jones. But that guy is gonna cry regardless.

Why does everyone say that? That is just saying well it’s better than before so we should be happy. It’s great he built the program up to where we can get top talent but if you can coach it in game or get rid of the stigma of WAOM then what’s the point? The goal of e wry program is to win the NC.

That was over 20 years ago. This isn't a valid argument. "We sucked before he got here so we can't fire him" is a bad mentality to have when a program becomes stagnant.

State has had 4 different head coaches since we hired Bianco and each of them have made it to Omaha and we've only been once. That is unacceptable

And there it is. That’s what drives the fire Bianco talk. Look at what the Dawgs are doin !!!!!!! They only went to Omaha once or twice during a 15 year stretch from the late 90s to around 2012 or 13. But anyone with half a brain knew the Law of Averages was gonna catch up and they were going to put several runs together in a short amount of time. Ole Miss hosted like five regionals from 2004-10 and didn’t make it.

Ole Miss baseball will NEVER be MSU baseball. Ole Miss baseball will NEVER be LSU baseball. Once you come to that realization, that our two biggest rivals have baseball programs that will always command more respect and be a bigger brand than ours, you realize how silly the fire Bianco talk is.

And not to be a stickler but Cannizzaro didn’t take them to Omaha.

Not to be that guy but if all of that is true shouldn’t we invest less into baseball. If we can’t win a championship in baseball then why have we spent so much in baseball the past 15 years. We lose money in baseball and let’s be honest only about 10 to 15 schools in the country care about baseball. We desperately need to start working on updating the football stadium that looks like it’s from 3 different stadiums that got patched together.

So why even play the game if you aren't constantly trying to get to those levels? You're saying just be happy with what we have and deal with it?

That's the same mindset that Matt Luke supporters had.

It's more than warranted.

The interim coach did. So that was the 4th I'm referring to.

Their fricking interim coach took them to Omaha. But "We aren't State and never will be" so we should just be ok with that?

Exactly this. Why invest in something if you have just decided we will never be better than State or LSU? That's a shitty arse fan mentality.

I am with HJJ on this. I don’t watch the season thinking it’s okay to make a Super Regional. Now if Bianco gets them over the hump tonight I think it will be exceedingly difficult to call for replacing him since this pitching staff has been woefully inconsistent outside of Nikhazy & Hoglund.

No it’s not. We’ve beaten both State and LSU in the past. Something we rarely ever did before Bianco came to Oxford. We just aren’t the brand those schools are. LSU is the #1 baseball school in the country. If you ask most people outside the southeast if MSU has won a baseball national title they’ll answer ‘Sure.’ That’s program and name recognition that we don’t have because we didn’t dominate in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s like they did. We went to Omaha in a year that neither of those teams made it and finished that season ranked #3, the highest Big 3 sport end of year ranking in my lifetime and yours as well. Again, all this is due to Mike Bianco. If we lose tonight the fan base will be out for his head. If we win they’ll worship him for a few years before the base gets agitated again. Other than the Virginia Super Regional and the Tennessee Tech Regional in Oxford we’ve missed the CWS due to losing to teams that were better than us and really tough regional matchups.

This is irrelevant. He's had 20 years in Oxford and only 1 trip to Omaha. He has pissed away so much talent that any other school would have run him off.

And we haven't dominated the 2000s and 2010s because of Mike Bianco choking with an insane amount of talent. We have arguably been more talented than MSU the last two decades and we only have 1 trip to show for it.

It doesn't matter how shitty we were two decades ago before Bianco got here. We are a different program now with elevated expectations. Did he get us to this point? Sure did. But you can't sit back and be satisfied with what we are now. Or else you become stagnant as a program and that's when people will justifiably turn on you as a coach and want more.

I'll agree with this.

I am not saying fire him if we lose tonight. I'm just saying those that are frustrated and want him gone are justified

Yeah. I did notice that he’s gone hitless in the postseason during his tenure. Never made a single quality pitch either. Valid point.
