Some athletes come back to full contact in less than 6 months but the average is 8-10 months. It’s often a full year before you’re back to pre injury shape.

We aren’t done at RB. They’re saying Parrish is in the boat but between Hayden @ Ohio State and Martinez @ Oregon State we are pushing hard to land one. Bentley has bulked up and can still fly but no way is he an every down between the tackles back.

Martinez would be a straight replacement for Judkins - just as talented and hopefully hungrier.

If we land Martinez… Judkins leaving is the best thing that could’ve happened to our RB room this year

And im not a “Judkins sucks” kinda guy despite me actively rooting against every snap he takes this season

Agreed. He runs like Judkins quick cuts good vision and breaks tackles. If he has a better attitude it’s almost an upgrade.

Bentley averaged 5.7 yds/carry to Judkin's 4.3, but Judkins had 271 carries to Bentley's 95. We need more than Bentley to step up and take those carries, and I don't want to increase Dart's carries either. In fact, we should probably reduce Dart's carries (119 in '23).

Agreed we need dart not taking too many free shots although his running changes the dynamic of our offense. If he protects himself and the ball we will be gravy

There will be names entering this cycle for us. I would advise everytime to keep their head up and not freak out. Half of this is negotiation and if a player is hell bent on leaving a championship caliber team then it’s not worth the imminent frustration they will cause in the locker room during the season. The OL roster is about to get shaken up and I would advise everyone to stay calm. We simply have too many OL right now to hold on to all of them. There’s some dead weight in that room anyway. Of the names I have heard I am not worried. That doesn’t mean that won’t change between today and tomorrow as the NCAA has allowed for players to basically leave the same day if they have a bad practice but as of right now I am not worried at all. We will be fine

I think Pettus will leave. He’s back and forth.

I won't root against him but no part of me will be rooting for him. I hate OSU so I will be rootong against his team. Funny thing is, at Ole Miss he got a payday and he got preseason mentions. Since he transferred, nobody is talking about him. I don't think he has realized what damage he did to his stock by leaving.

Did he ever come back from the broken foot last year? I don't remember if he finished the season or not.

Absolutely shameful what they've done to the game.

Agreed. The portal is the worst problem with football right now. The NIL only exacerbates the portal issues. If transfers were locked down much more, then it would prevent a lot of the tampering.

For how many years the colleges exploited the players and did not share the revenue for the hits they were taking, I've enjoyed watching the colleges and coaches now squirm as the power transferred so heavily to the players.

I do think there is a better balance to be found though somewhere in the middle.

Meh. frick the players. It does my heart good seeing players who went to a school for money and then complain that they got stiffed.

You reap what you sow. I also love seeing players get cut if they aren’t performing. Your scholarship is only good now if you’re performing at a high level. Oh it’s not fair that you don’t get a free education anymore even if you suck? Sorry you wanted this. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Exploited by....giving them a platform to make millions if they are good enough to go pro, or by providing them a solid education that sets them up to make a very good living by them playing the same game that they played in high school, junior high, and elementary school?

None of those schools are making millions in television rights off of that player.

They wanted to get paid and they’re getting exactly what they wanted. They can’t expect to be given a free ride for college, get paid NIL money and not perform.

Part of growing up is knowing who they can and can’t trust. If they go to a program that stiffs them on payment, well tough shite. Hire a lawyer. It’s the world they wanted even though they were warned about it.
