Everyone that is saying it’s just NIL or Lane’s flirtation with Auburn is missing the point. It’s not one or the other it’s likely a combination of both. Lane’s annual name coming up for a vacancy led Reed to explore options. One of which said hey we will give you $X amount (I have heard $20K monthly) and Reed tried to get Ole Miss to match….which we didn’t. So yes it was NIL…..however,

Maybe he wanted the job and maybe they wanted him; who knows. What he failed at was quashing the rumors at a very critical time.

But now him and Sexton extorted $9M a year……and he is no different than the kids we are complaining about. He best perform, just like the players, or I say boot his disloyal arse.

I'll never understand the expectation of "loyalty" from coaches who aren't from here and had to be paid millions to come do a job. The only coach we've had in my lifetime who had even a slightest expectation of "loyalty" was Matt Luke.

Coaches are mercenaries subject to the highest bidder.

20k monthly is crazy for a kid that won’t start for two years. We were right not to pay it.
