I think gross would be pretty good on the outside of a 3-4.

And I'm not convinced DT shack is going to be a big contributor. He looked big and slow in the spring game

It just looked like practice to me honestly.

Yea it was a little disappointing. Hopefully I got the wrong impression on DT because I would love for him to return to form. He deserves it

I hope so too. Hopefully during fall camps we will start to see what the product will look like.

Anything we get out of Shack is a bonus, but I'm not counting on him.

I've heard he keeps improving each week and is much quicker and in much better shape than he was in the spring, but of course that could be the typical off season bullshite.

Edit: DT is one player we dont need to worry about. If he's got anything left, we will get it.

Big and slow is great as a nose in a 3-4. Well, as long as "big" equals "hard to push out of the gap...

I stumbled on the site while doing a google search looking for recruiting info last summer. I joined a few months later, but I rarely post unless I have something to add.

In this case, I've been a Pittsburgh Steeler fan for most of my life, so I have some understanding of how a 3-4 defense works. The whole D-Line, especially the NT must be able to plug gaps for it to be effective. They are not counted on to provide pressure, but they must be able to keep their bodies in the gaps and tie up OL so that the LBs will be free to make plays.

Honestly I'm not sure we have the horses to run it effectively. Maybe just using it in a few situations could be effective, but I don't know.
