Well, if it makes you feel better, the CEO of it was fired from Under Armour for misspending company funds.

I know they can't be legally tied to the school, but idk if I trust this to be done responsibly otherwise

They are tied to the school. This is allowed by state law as well as the NCAA now.

How can schools create a fund to pay players? Is this split evenly across all athletes or who makes the decision on who gets what?

They can’t. These are for profit corporations formed by boosters. The school has no say over who gets paid and how much (though the school can veto any NIL agreement an athlete signs).

So we donate $21 a month and maybe a player gets $15 of it.

Even if it's from an apparel standpoint it doesn't make sense....We're a Nike school.

Bio's from the founders

Lawrence Deas

ETA: This website doesn't like direct links. Go here and find him under the "Our Attorneys" tab.

Paul Hurst

William Liston

Matthew McDonald

David Nutt

Crymes Pittman

Not really a fan of having a guy by the name of Crymes handling money but I didn't see anything about someone connected with Adidas. Looks like they're pretty much all big-name attorneys from jackson.

he isn't listed as any of the founders.

Also....this article makes it seem like Jones might have been a sacrificial lamb...

quote:

Mr. Jones, who joined Under Armour about a decade ago, left the company in 2014 after questions about his spending, according to people familiar with the matter. He left to work as a sports agent at Creative Artists Agency. Two years later, Mr. Plank lobbied executives to let Mr. Jones return, prompting his rehiring in 2016, these people said.

The company has for years given a long leash to the sports-marketing department, with Mr. Plank himself holding lavish corporate events for athletes and VIP guests and often telling executives to give in to the demands of athletes, even those who are no longer useful to the company, these people said.

The sports-marketing staff were among the employees who sometimes attended strip clubs with athletes and expensed the visits to the company, the people said. Under Armour stopped the practice in February, The Wall Street Journal reported last month.

He’s not a founder. He was appointed as CEO last month.

He didn’t voluntarily resign and take a huge pay cut for nothing.

They could be trying harder. There should be tables to sign up at every sporting event. They could be cold calling every business in the state. I've seen them push credit card offers harder at our events.
