DK Metcalf: The Future

After rewatching the Wofford game and the season, man it is really unfortunate we are losing him. He's our best redzone threat and a physical specimen. Having said that, can't wait to see him catching passes from Shea next year. I really was expecting him to have to RS coming in. Thought AJ would be the only one to play. Man, he will be a BEAST! He really does remind me of Calvin Johnson.

I just hope we can actually play in a bowl game. I'll admit, I'm not overly optimistic.

About this year or next? I mean it's pretty easy to get to one these days...6 wins is pretty easy to get to, even in the SEC when you're talented and have good coaching.

No, I mean in terms of sanctions next year. Not worried about this year.

From what we've seen of DK, he very well could be a Laquon type talent and the lack of the RS was probably due to expecting him to be a 3 and out guy after seeing him in spring ball. It's too early to tell, and we didn't get to see a whole lot, but what we did see was pretty amazing (from blocking to catching and everything in-between, not to mention his love for the school and potential leadership role). Really wish him and Stringfellow were playing at the same time this year. Those two guys alone could carry us and win a few close games.

I think DK most certainly has elite potential. It does suck he went down because he would have been a valuable asset, at least in the Red Zone as he showed us. Potential upside to this is less inclination for WR to transfer. Folks like Lodge, Jefferson, Brown, etc are going to get to see the field that much more this year.
Hey, if A.J. Brown hauls in that pass in the game against Wofford, we'd be talking about that and putting him on the same level as Metcalf. If you guys remember the pass I am talking about, it was a very tough pass for him to bring in with 1 arm/hand which he tried, and he was awfully close.

He almost had it, I was very surprised he didn't get it.

DK is in one of my classes and when I saw him this week he seemed optimistic about his recovery. He had surgery and he's basically in a full leg cast though. I was surprised at how upbeat he was about it all, he was just happy to have caught the touchdowns

Amazing considering the way left the field after the touchdown. Really sucks.

IKR.. What exactly did he break in his foot? I never heard..
He jumped up after the td and was celebrating. .

I read of the injury before I got a chance to watch the game (weekend wedding), and therefore I was looking out for the injury when watching the replay. If you watch closely you can definitely see some hesitation when he gets up and then goes to celebrate.

I thought it was just a toe break?

DK seems to be more of a baby Megatron to me than a baby MegaQuon. That TD against FSU still has my hyped. As long as he doesn't leave after his junior year, there are many worse things than having a stud WR redshirt.

I see DK as more of an Alshon Jeffrey-type myself. I don't think he has quite the speed of Calvin Johnson. Either way, we've got a great one on our hands.

I didn't ask, but it had to be something serious considering he's in a cast from the knee down and he uses on of those leg push scooter things to get around

I wouldn't read too much into this. There are numerous scenarios where ortho's put someone in a full leg cast if they need the break immobilized to heal correctly.

I expect Lodge will get some shots at the jump ball goaline plays.

Let's not forget Van Jefferson who took his RS like a man. Hes running near perfect routes and a beast. It's amazing how much talent we've amassed at WRU

Had a bad case of the drops last week, though

Jefferson will have a big game vs Bama i believe..
