So a 12-1 vote against banning Dixie = postponed???

quote:

Ole Miss Senate?@OleMissSenate24 Apr
Due to unanswered questions committee members had concerning #UMDixie resolution, its passage to the senate was postponed to clarify details

ETA: this is from the ASB Senate twitter

Pretty sure you said that Dixie was bad since it reminded people of the South, which basically means you don't want Southern culture to be a part of the university.

This is like asking if Mississippi is on campus. We're definitely in it.

Personally I feel what someone who isnt from the south might infer as racism, someone from the south might realize isnt racist at all. Its very hard to explain. Its just one of those things that you just have to be from the south to get.

And you said a few posts ago you don't care what others think, when you're saying here that you do care what people ignorant of our traditions think. Stop being insecure about it.

So the Higgins kid is "revising" the bill and then he is going to represent it to the ASB Senate for another vote.

I said I didnt care if Dixie stayed or if they got rid of it.

This quote was to point out that people who arent from the south dont understand some things of the south. They might infer something that its not.

Ole Miss is fine the way it is. Nothing needs to change except for board members who are constantly wanting to ban and change shite. THAT is where the real problem is. We bring all the "Ole Miss is racist" attention on ourselves when our administration continues to talk about it.

Who cares? Seriously. There are plenty of things I don't understand from up North but I can promise you people from Boston, NY, etc will simply tell you to frick off if you don't.

As said earlier in the thread, at this point that's on them.
