General Pershing did it, back in the day.
I'm pretty sure that's myth ... but I agree, it's a myth that I can first remember hearing from my Grandfather in the late 60s right after Munich.
As I remember-it, it was bullets dipped in pig blood or, as my grandfather said, barrels greased with pig fat and then they let the Moros know those barrels and bullets were lubed with pig fat.
Of course, the truth of the matter is that Black Jack Pershing beat the Moros, in many parts, thanks to John Browning's 1911 .45 ACP and local resistance rather than the pig blood thing.
An A&M history professor, Dr. Frank E. Vandiver, authored Black Jack: The Life and Times of John J. Pershing, and he was unable to corroborate the pig blood story.
The story probably comes from the 1939 movie, The Real Glory with Gary Cooper.
1939 was a great year for movies. Good gosh, think of all the great movies that came-out-of 1939. It has to be the greatest year for movies ever.

I didn't say Muhammed. But I did now.

1939 in Film ... I was evidently correct, or at least in popular opinion I was correct although I probably heard it somewhere before and was simply projecting that prior subliminal thought in this thread when remembering The Real Glory although my first thought, when trying to remember that movie, was actually Beau Geste which also starred Cooper, dealt with Muslims and was filmed and released in '39.
I mean ... 1939
Dark Victory
Gone With the Wind (Best Picture)
Goodbye, Mr. Chips
Love Affair
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Ninotchka
Of Mice and Men
Stagecoach (some consider the greatest Western ever made)
The Wizard of Oz
Wuthering Heights
Beau Geste
Stanley and Livingstone
Gulliver's Travels
Gunga Din
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I mean sheesh, the list literally goes on and on. It was just an amazing year.
So, no wonder that year we saw the birth of the Pershing Pig Blood Myth in a movie.

I've seen every movie on that list except for Love Affair.
Classics all.

We don't have to be more brutal than them.
What we need to do is have leadership in Washington man up and call a spade a spade. I'm tired of the pandering PC bullshite. It's time we denounce Islam and ramp up the rhetoric...we need to promote Western values and shame those who defend Islam. It's a disgusting religion.
We also need to go balls to wall with our military and start wiping them out. We know where they are...everytime they go out in the open and try to overrun an area we should bomb the frick out of them and push them into the mountains. Eventually they'll tired of it
