I don't know what the Elkhart, TX accent sounds like, but Tye Sheridan nails the Arkansas delta drawl in Mud

Anybody that is not from the south sucks at the accent. There's actually many many accents but they always pick the Texas twang.

Lately I've seen a lot of the old timey Savannah Georgia accent which when done properly sounds great to me but no one actually talks like that anymore

Seems like they think everyone from the low country talks like they were raised in an antebellum home. Also, the coonass loading crab traps in True Detective might be the best I've ever heard (if he's not actually Cajun). There's probably 4-5 regional Cajun accents in LA, and the guy nails the Cameron/Vermillion Parish to a t

Dan Ackroyd in Driving Miss Daisy was pretty awful. Morgan Freeman on the other hand ….

The best one I've heard is Ed Helms on The Office. My old math professor has a Savannah accent. It sounded like he would throw a "y" in the middle of "test".

Kelly MacDonald No Country for Old Men

Matt Damon The Rainmaker

Susan Sarandon Bull Durham

Ewan Mcgregor I Love You Philip Morris

All of these have drawn praise as putting on a good southern accent. Macdonald was the best IMO. You wouldn't ever guess she was Scottish.

Hard to believe she's from Georgia based on that accent

Has anyone mentioned Kevin Costner in JFK?

Two really horrible things about that:

1) people in New Orleans don't even speak with a southern accent--in fact, I've actually seen the New Orleans "Yat" accent listed in its own separate accent category before.

2) the character that he was portraying (Jim Garrison) was born in Iowa.

So is Joelle Carter (Ava Crowder in Justified), from Thomasville down by the Florida line. She's beautiful and a good actor but that accent is just not extant in Kentucky.

Basically everyone on The Walking Dead.

Well most of them are British or Aussies so I think they're doing a decent job. I agree the accent is bad at times but it's a great show.

Yeah I like the show. Just the accents sound so forced sometimes.

Already posted but Dennis Quaid in the big easy was by far the worst. No southern but Cajun accent and it sucked so bad it was embarrassing

I never saw the movie--why does he speak with a Cajun accent when he's supposed to be in New Orleans. New Orleanians speak with a "Yat" accent, not Cajun (or Southern).

Patrick Swaze in either North and South or Blue and the Gray, can't remember which, was the worst I ever heard.
