He was using that story as a metaphor for faith. Same as when he said it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. He's illustrating that when folks allow worldly trappings to supersede their faith, they're trusting in the wrong thing for their salvation.

I hope you are right, because I have trouble taking the final step and giving all, but new age preachers like to get people with money into their membership, and try to explain things.. in a way they will like to hear
When you read The Bible word for word for yourself though, and think about what is happening in the stories there, it is telling something different.

This is also truth. Nothing wrong with having money. Worshipping money is the problem.

Again, you don't have to give up "all" to be a believer. Only thing you have to accept is that faith in Christ alone is your salvation.

I don't follow any new age preachers

I read the Bible. It doesn't say anything about the eschewing of worldly possessions/comforts being catalysts into getting into heaven. Only that it's easier to lean solely on one's faith when one has little else upon which to lean.

Idk about other folks, but I plan on getting paid and providing as many comforts for my loved ones and I as possible. As long as I don't lose sight of the fact that my faith in Christ is what's saved me, not my works and not my possessions, I am good.

According to Jesus, you are wrong.

He stated, "it is easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven."

He didn't say that rich people do not go to heaven. Obviously, Jesus is referring to the way some people go about seeking wealth & what they do with it once they acquire it. If their pursuit of it comes before God, and it becomes the most important thing in their lives, or they don't do the "right" things with it - tithing, helping the needy, etc. - there is a problem. Jesus has/had no problem with rich people; their making/allowing money, power, and the pursuit of it to mean more to them than God, doing much of anything to get it, therefore idolizing or "worshipping" it, he did/does have a problem with.

I've worked for over 60 years, I've saved up $27 dollars, that'll surely get me an aisle seat in Bidness Class.

Eta:,, that was a pretty cool song, even if it was by a bunch of long hairs.

Depends on whether or not both places actually exist and what the criteria are for each.

If the narrow path described in the Bible is truly the reality of the situation, I'll be in hell along with the majority of "Christians" who have ever lived. The reality is that the change inherent to genuine acceptance of Christ described in the NT is absent from the lives of most believers.

So, when asked this question by believers I usually just say I'll be hell and they likely will be as well.
