G. Southerners were starting to get all uppity and needed to be put in their place.

A,B,C, and D. Slavery was the issue whose threads were interwoven into all causes of the Civil War. From State's Rights to the Economic friction between The Industrial manufacturing North and the wealthy Aristocratic planter class of the South. Throw in political friction as it pertained to expansion and the creation of new States and the escalating congressional power struggle between the two regions. Both regions were determined to gain the Congressional upper hand through the creating of new States sympathetic to their side. Money and power concerns from the wealthy on both sides resulted in jealousy and mis-trust ......which resulted in the Civil War. Slavery was front and center because in the Northern Industrialists eyes it created an unfair economic advantage as well as an advantage in Congressional seats for the South due to the 3/5 compromise. The southern aristocracy felt that without slavery, they would be devastated both economically and politically in Congress.
The two best events to research thoroughly to understand how all of those things tied together is The Missouri Compromise and the Kansa/Nebraska Act.
The war was waged due to Slavery for sure. However, not for the "feel good" reasons that most people were taught in school. The Northern State's were as racist , if not more so , than their Southern counterparts. All one needs to do is to research "Black Codes" to see how terribly racist most of Northern society really was. Start with the BLack Code of Mr. Lincoln's own State of Illinois to see the hypocrisy.

So their great-great grand kids would be pissed when Missouri joined the SEC.

There are many many reasons. Why did Lincoln march on fellow Americans?

I'm pretty sure that, by 1821, no state north of the Mason-Dixon line or the Ohio River allowed slavery.
Correct.
Not quite. The 1860 Slave schedule showed there were still some slaves in NJ. West Virginia was admitted to the Union as a slave state in 1863.
Also, when the war started, there were 7 slave states in the Confederacy and 8 in the Union
. It was only after Lincoln,s call for troops to invade the South that the other states seceded.

B and C
The war of northern aggression wasn't fought over slavery, remember the winners are who writes the history books.

To create a cohesive south in order for the dominance of SEC football to arise. Isn't everything about football?

Slavery was central to the War.
Slavery had economic implications and also was the main "states rights" issue.
Slavery certainly was a big deal in Lincoln's election.
Magma was not really a contributing factor.

hat, by 1821, no state north of the Mason-Dixon line or the Ohio River allowed slavery. Missouri was added as a slave state with Maine being added as a counterbalance in Congress (so to speak), while California was added as a free state in response to Texas being added as a slave state
In 1863, there were slaves in Maryland, Delaware and Kentucky. That is why the Emancipation Proclamation stipulates, "states in conflict with the union". The slaves in Delaware were not freed until the 13th Amendment passed after the war

Money. Anti-slavery movement didn't come out of the north. It came out of the midwest. Midwestern farmers couldn't compete with southern plantations. Not even plantations. 3 or 4 slaves gave you a competitive advantage over midwesterners. Southerners wanted slaves because it was the cheapest labor out there, and it's what they already had. They didn't like the Yankees trying to take away their profit margins. Lincoln was from the midwest and anti-slavery. He was elected and those in Dixie saw the writing on the wall. Then South Carolina declared its secession.

None of the above.
All wars are fought for control of the economy.
You don't think slaves affected the economy?

The proliferation of NAMBLA. North American Man Boy Love Association. Northerners desperately wanted this freedom for all Americans and the southerners, stuck in their Bible-beating ways, refused to accept this.
So why, after the north won, do we not see man-boy love as a widely accepted practice and constitutional right? Because black Americans did what they always do with hot button issues - twisted everything around and made it all about black people problems.
