Why don't people care that every House and Senate session opens in prayer?

Wondering why orginizations like the Freedom From Religion group go after small town high schools 1,500 miles away for praying before a game but they don't do dick about Congress opening in prayer every single session (both the House and the Senate).

Seems weird to me. What say you, people offended by the prayers of our government?

Ceremonial deism.

Stop trying to change the way this country works. America is a Christian nation built on the Protestant ethic and if you don't like it you should just move to North Korea.

People who get offended about things like public prayer need more things to worry about.

I think 95% of Christians are good people. The war against them blows my mind.

The problem I have, and it's where I start to agree with the hate mongering liberals, is that I don't think it's that high. I think it's right at the same percentage as the rest of society if not lower. Highest rates of Christianity belong to inmates. Then you have people lining up to see Joel Osteen preach, countless homophobes, and whore shaming abstinence only education types. I think elements of modern Christianity lend itself to a zero accountability lifestyle that simultaneously fosters hate towards sexually active females, homosexuals, and the impoverished.

That being said I wear a crucifix around my neck every day and love everyone of my family members and even admire some of their faith. I am not a Christian, and I criticize it heavily, but it does have a lot of things that prevent me from ever being a part of it.

It's this.

Christianity is a religion of redemption. As such, people who believe they're already inherently good will have a more difficult time accepting the christian gospel as opposed to those who recognize that they're flawed.

People who go to see JO are gullible, not bad people. Being a Christian doesn't mean you can't be fooled.

As for the other elements, the tide is (thankfully) starting to turn in many circles. You can believe something to be a sin without having negative interactions with others and ceasing to treat them as dignified people.

Another year of wandering in the wilderness for Gamecocks and Ags. One of us will make it over the hill eventually, though, and I'll be happy for either one if and when that occurs

Really hoping to make it out to SC in a couple of years btw. Have family on my wife's side in Charleston I still have yet to meet.
