You want to talk about some hasty idiotic marriages? The military is full of them.

Not you T-Bird but you got me thinking and while the Air Force is special I'm sure you know what I mean.

USAF is no different. I know exactly what you're talmbout. Tech school is THE WORST for having an environment that breeds hasty, ill-advised marriages.

Mrs. T and I got lucky that by the time the military forced our hand, we'd already been a couple for awhile and were already engaged. All our obligations did was move up our timetable and "rob" us of a huge blowout wedding.

Some of these other couples, man, you hope it works out, but it's such a risky business in this environment. Whether it's mil to mil or not.

Some people are ready. It was natural for me. I was 22 when I got married.

Me and my girl have been together for a year and a half. We both know we want to get married, but we are going to wait until after we graduate next spring to get engaged. So I'll probably be getting married around 22 or 23. I think it's all a matter of finding the "one", and also your personality/maturity.

Sleeping.

I was 23 when I got engaged, and he was 24. I never dated anyone seriously in college because most guys would do something to annoy me in a very short time. I met my husband at work, and we just clicked.

I don't feel I've missed out on anything, but everyone's different.

I just counted in my head, and the 6 couples I know that got engaged right before they graduated, only 2 are still married. 2 were real nasty divorces, and the other 2 are still civil to each other.

Ugh, last night was rough. Omw home finally. Looking forward to crawling in bed with the only woman I have ever been with. Very lucky.

Catch y'all later

I, too, was sleeping, but I'll chime in real quick.

Me and the Missus started dating at 19/20 and I blew half my military sign on bonus on a ring and popped the question at 24. We still didn't get married for another two years due to school, but now we're coming up on two years married and I couldn't be happier. She's exactly the person I need to put up with my bullshite and vice versa. She's really become my best friend.

I think "the time" arrives at different times for everyone. People mature at different rates and reach different mind sets that are appropriate for different life milestones at different times. If society would just accept that and stop trying to force everyone into a cookie cutter mold, then we'd probably function much better.
