OTC stands for over the counter. Just saw a news report that some politician (sorry didn't catch the name) in the state legislature is proposing legislation to ban them if they are +3 or stronger. Of course his number one donor was the optometry Super Pac and obviously these being banned would benifit eye doctors financially but I'm seriously confused to what actual issues these glasses being available causes.

I'm aware the reasoning is likely bullshite but I would like to at least know what they attempt to claim is the reasoning that these menaces to society should be regulated is before I go off on an anti Gubmint rant

Cigarettes are legal and Marijuana is illegal. Do yourself a favor in google chemicals in cigarettes. Government only looks out for 1 thing.

Umm yeah......that was kinda my point but 99% of the time they have to make up some bullshite arse reason to be against something like this (for example Ecigs) and I was wondering what that might be

Well, that part's not true, but the sponsor is a retired optometrist.

Sounds like he's trying to get more money to his poor underpaid optometry buddies.

Tim James probably got tired of people taking drivers license exams in foreign languages with reading glasses

Automatic upvote for the Tim James reference.

The usual reason is one or more of them own or are partners in eye glass clinics. That's usually how it goes.
