So what's your definition of punk music?

And I'm not talking about new GD, everything after American Idiot is bleh

Dookie and Nimrod were great albums

Personally for Punk I go to Misfits, Social Distortion, Hatebreed.

Real bands.

Edit: Misfits - Saturday Night

I hope most of this thread is tongue in cheek.

Obviously we have different views on "real bands"
Though I do like Social Distortion

You mean one of us likes actual artists who really did shite to change the world and the other likes corporate sellouts.

I know it's all subjective, but to say Green Day is anything other than a tiny, insignificant blip on the radar is a little exaggerated.

I hope that wasn't directed at the Vandals.

Otherwise, I'll see you at El Sonico.

You can shite on Green Day post American Idiot all you want, but to say their earlier stuff was a tiny blip shows how blind your hatred makes you

Said every 20-something failed-to-launch male about their favorite band.

This. Also, Tom Delonge is one of the best rock guitarists of this era.

A true punk band has to be an underground act, it cannot be confused with rock or any popular genre that you would hear on fm radio. If it is, it isn't punk. Most punk bands emerged on the scene in southern California in the late 70's and early 80's.

I feel like I'm going crazy.

Green Day, Blink-182, who are we gonna hear about next? LMFAO?

They equate sellout with the rest of music but with Punk I think that carries a few more caveats.

You're talking about a self-made man in another country, I think failure to launch is not only stupid (because you know this already) but anti-magma.

Wait? You suggested The Misfits? Seriously?

Hatebreed?

Lemme guess, you think Bad Brains is a game-changer, huh? Bad Religion is probably edgy to you?

What are you, four? Why even describe your pre-school poppy garbage as punk.

You're below me.
