Gov. Abbot is more than likely to sign the bill that allows concealed handguns on campus. I believe it has pros and cons. Which states allow this already and has there been any controversy?

I agree. Usually the case with decisions of this magnitude (and I'm a staunch concealed weapons supporter). Will be interesting to see how things unfold over the years and if said legislation will last and if other states will/won't follow suit.

We tried something similar but I think it failed. Seems like there was a proposal that allowed U's to opt out, and I think every single institution in the state stated that they would opt out. Something like that.

Ehh I'm just feeling some type of way. I support it somewhat. Out of 50,000 students there is a handful of idiots and that's what concerns me.

When was that, if you don't mind my asking?

Just wanted to read up on it for myself as it relates to AR

Mississippi allows it with an enhanced concealed carry permit that requires more training than a basic CC permit. Both MSU and OM I believe have changed their school policy to allow it also.

I see the MSU students posting pics of their guns in their vehicles and apartments on campus on the Yeti app...it's crazy how many guns those students own. Glocks, revolvers, 1911s, and tons of AR15s. ISIS wouldn't be able to take over the MSU campus.

No, it's Mississippi. Nobody here is scared of guns

Meh. You could apply that logic to the general populace too..I'd say that your average college student idiot is still smarter and more responsible than your average idiot in the general populace who is still allowed to own guns.

If a crazy person wants to commit mass murder, he will do it regardless of what the law is. At least now, those students are given the right to have a means of protection if such an event were to occur.

You have a point. There was actually a horrible situation my freshman year when a girl was raped on campus. It opened a lot of people's eyes on the right to concealed weapons. I agree it may deter a lot of crime.

Kentucky is clearly out-pacing the rest of the nation in allowing citizens to carry guns in public places. The question is, will other states follow?

Colleges and universities can decide to allow guns on campus. To date, none have to my knowledge. However, a court case determined that UK students can have guns in their cars even when they park on campus.

This is the crux of the matter I think. Would fewer VT students have died if someone was carrying? Sandy Hook if a teacher had a weapon to stop the crazy man? I think so.

I think so as well. I think there should be something like what Mississippi has. More training, classes, etc.

The State of Virginia does allow concealed carry on campus. However, Virginia Tech is one of the few schools that restricts concealed carry. There are Universities in Virginia that allow concealed carry on campus though.

Yeah I just bet you'd be the guy charging a campus shooter with nothing but your bare hands.

Jus sayin, most guys that carry guns do so because they're impotent. It's symbolic to have a gun because their penises don't work.

Do you drive without seat belts? Think of a firearm as a seat belt for those times when a crazy person goes off and wants to take out a crowd.

Not even remotely in the same ballpark. Car accidents happen a lot more often than shootings.

Wow you are genuinely a fricking retard.

Everyone should have the right to defend themselves from crazies, regardless of where they are.

I don't carry because I'm not allowed, but I know that at least 2 or 3 people around me here are and I feel better because of it. I have gotten fairly handy with a knife though so the no guns thing did have a silver lining.
