I didn't want to say anything but I didn't agree with the premise "people don't change". People for damn sure change. Especially after a kid. People change all the time, priorities get swapped, augmented or manipulated. Attraction over time can also change, as can career goals.
People really don't get 'set in their ways' until much later in life.
