You notice a woman at work, (6.75 out of 10) who's been having trouble with her husband, comes in with a black eye.

You ask if she's okay. She says yeah. You ask "did he hit you?" She says yeah.

What do you do? Is it any of your business in the first place?

You encourage her to get help, contact the police, and leave the guy. You offer to go with her as she does these things. If she says she doesn't want to you let her know you really think she should and go ahead and report it.

You said you live in Tennessee right? Sometimes cousins have disagreements that can only be settled with a dotted eye. Got to let that one slide.

Yeah. Told her I'd go to her house with her to get her things if she wanted to leave him, gave her my number told her to call it any time, day or night and I'll be over there.

You need to encourage her to get help.

Black eye may just be the tip of the iceberg

Is this a follow up thread to the one where you're mad at the preacher for telling your wife to leave you?

I am assuming you are man with my answer. It would be slightly different if you are a woman. I would help her anyway I could short of going to that mans house. You can arrange people to go with her (deputy or the like).

You do not want to enter a another man's home with his wife in tow to collect her stuff. That is a recipe for disaster.

I recently had a co-worker retire and in the late 70's his wife showed up to get her stuff with another man and her mother. He killed all 3 of them and then tried to kill himself. He did accomplish disfiguring himself forever though. He went away for some number of years that I do not know. Turned his life around ended up being a good man with a terrible past (I know that is crazy to say of someone that killed 3 people but...).

Get her help if you can but be smart about it and make sure that if your dealing with a powder keg you have people in place that can deal with a powder keg.

lol, it wasn't that bad. I did realize though that I started that thread on mother's day, which was coincidently the day she left me on. I'm sure there's a little something there to nibble on for the psychoanalysts among us. lol

So a coworker is getting beat by her husband and you feel it important to rank her on a scale of 10?

This story is either bullshite or you're an a-hole. Which is it?

Probably encourage her to immediately after she gets home, put on some rubber gloves, and do the dishes. I'm guessing a 6.75 gets manicures.

In my experience, if a female is sporting a black eye, she is also bruised on her back and rib area. Usually, the black eye is a mistake by the spouse because he doesn't want the bruises to show in public. If she has a black eye, she's probably been getting hit long before he marked her face. I would report it and probably have a deputy talk to her as she leaves work. If the deputy sees the black eye and she states to him that he hit her, the deputy can file the charges through the state, without her approval.

She's a grown adult person with full rights and full agency.

It's none of your business.

The most important point is that you need to find someone else to help this woman. You want to help her, and you should want to help her. But you need to realize you are not the right person at this time unless you are absolutely the only person within 50 miles.
