To each their own but I really despise it.
Great to visit I'm sure but the winters just become unbearable.

The area that became my hometown used to be owned by Ojibwe Indians that grew wild rice in a nearby marsh. They refused to sell the land to loggers so the town fathers damned up a river that ran through the marshy area and flooded everything creating a lake and forcing the Indians to sell.

We also used to be the county seat until New Years Eve in 1899 when a bunch of miscreants from the next town over snuck in to the tiny shack that served as the courthouse and stole all the county files/documents.

Really crazy place. How we weren't able to parlay any of that into a good moniker is beyond me.

River City. And unlike your otherwise perfectly nice city there's actually a big arse river flowing right beside it. Nyahh, nyahh, nyahh. Or something.

For Oklahoma City, mainly OKC.

Ever since the Thunder came to OKC ESPN has been trying to make OKE (pronounced OAK) City a thing. It doesn't work. So ESPN stop trying to make OKE-City a thing.
