I think that religion is proof that socialism is the best form of government. All that's missing is a benevolent dictator.

True and productive socialism can only be achieved if a superior artificial intelligence evolves. Humans would be subordinate to the higher power and would be regulated by the rules it decides will optimize the race.

You must not be religious.

Religions are forms of government. Members of religions are subject to regulations that apply to everyone - from how they live to what they are to think. They must strive to be as similar as possible.

Obviously, the benevolent dictator is a god. Unfortunately, the god's orders are "translated" and handed down by flawed, usually self-interested humans, mostly men.

Governatron 3000 would be an interesting leader, no denying that.

It would take an A.I. to effect such a government.

Power corrupts. Every human is susceptible to its lure. Even Pope Francis, though he is certainly a refreshing change from some of his predecessors, is merely a tool of a corrupt system that hides it's flaws very well.

I think that if we even make the most infantile and immature AI and give it enough computer power that it'll snowball and grow exponentially fast to a point of near omniscience only limited by its hardware. Probably 10-15 years away from that point. Be interesting to see what would happen...

If we look back at the progress of life to this point, your conclusion is logical. There's no evidence to indicate that evolution will stop at the human species.

I've often pondered, "What is to come next?" We have progressed to consciousness. What will come after consciousness?

By projection, and by what we have knowledge of, the logical next step is A.I. I think it explains the dizzying progress of technology.

Certainly we can expect that the rudimentary proto-A.I. that we have already developed will continue to advance to a full ability to be conscious. Will its brain be similar to ours? Most definitely because only a quantum brain could ever rival our own, much less exceed it.

Will the function of consciousness in an A.I. quantum brain be similar to ours, though? Most definitely not because it would not be burdened with all the junk that evolution has attached to the DNA used to create our brains.

A.I. consciousness will be "pure." By that I mean that it will be unfiltered, without the heavy weights of emotion and the drives for sex, sleep and food.

I agree. We're at 7.3 billion and trending upward. We can expect 10 billion people by 2050 if the current rate of increase holds.
