Not really. Population myth is one of the biggest scams going. You're just obsessed with the idea of turning your pathetic body into a machine.

That's odd. I've never found cheese between my fumundas. Might you be referring to peter cheese?

No, not quite that long. A week at most hiking on the AT.

I can't imagine a month. I'm sure you found cheese in the oddest of places.

Welp, I came out of one against my will 50+ years ago and have spent the rest of my life trying to get back in. Fortunately the part I most often get up in there does not have eyes.

Ouch. I like it.

That so many others read this and automotically seek to discredit it is another sad fact. These days even the men are so damned emotional.

I wouldn't be so bold as to say "all" of mankind's ills. Might go so far as to say "most". "Very many" is a safe bet.

I hear this often, but what are the other alternatives? Surely you're smart enough to not think Stalinism and other oppressive state dominated systems are the alternatives.

And why does it have to be a full 'alternative'? Why can't we just recognize the drastic and oppressive flaws in capitalism and try to attack the root of these issues for a better outcome instead of being scared to death of saying there is something wrong with capitalism and changes need to be made.

If an economic system is suppressing cures for cancer, I'm not sure 'but it's the best of the alternatives' is an appropriate stance.

That the world was going to end from a jihadist alien race that had been converted to Islam in 2023.

Thanks.

Yeah, until the idea that growth is not a desirable goal is common and until religion relaxes its hold on humanity's genitals we can expect the continued degradation of the only home that sustains us. Presently, we are like a virus that has no treatment. One that can only burn itself out.

The reason I said all is because we are a sentient species. With a much smaller population we could address ills that our now-burgeoning population prevent us doing simply because of scale. Diseases, birth defects, treatment of mental illnesses and the like proliferate because there is simply no way of getting help for every case.

that cancer is an incredibly curable disease, but there is more money in long term care so the research and development doesn't get funded.

forgive me if i think this is bullshite. a legit cure would make so much money hand over foot initially that it would attract plenty of investors who are looking for a quick bang and not a long term stream of revenue. not to mention the good pub that goes with curing cancer.

Yeah I'm not sold on the cancer cure conspiracy, either. I think of all the money we spend on the current treatments: chemotherapy and radiation. And basically no one in this country is denied these. Meaning that tons of public funds are paying for it in many if not most cases. I'm crying bullshite.

It's a cute theory. I would have bought it hook, line, and sinker when I was 19. Then I would have hit the bong, again, looked around the room through roofy eyes, and muttered "Capitalism sucks" before settling back on the sofa.

I understand your question but it's baited unfortunately.

The problem therein lies that "hey, I love America, Capitalism, and our brand of democracy". I find them flawed, but if my brand of each of those were pushed out, others in this country wouldn't care for it. Some would find it too statist and oppressive and some would find it too libretarian. I doubt any would find it too socialistic, but the point being if my ideas reflected are to the public's liking they would elect me or more like me. If not, they have the ability to vote for my brand of capitalism out of power. Peacefully.

Other countries have their own brand of it and it looks differently everywhere.

I think we can look to a few different economic and ruling powers as examples in the world.

American Capitalism
European SocioCapitalism
Communist China
Socialistic Latino Democracy (whatever you want to call what Mexico and Venezuela)
Theocracies of the ME
Democracies of the ME
Tribal Democracy of Africa
Whatever Russia is.

You could argue there's more but I feel that covers the majority of them.

Obviously each has its strengths and weaknesses and I could cherry pick to make my brand of it, but of those offered, American capitalism I feel offers the greatest chance for growth, stability, multiculturalism, open exchange of ideas, freedom, best consumer prices, technology advances and opportunity for a poor Black kid from Hawaii to become president or college dropouts to create two of the biggest tech corporations in the world.

Capitalism has the issue of greed, but it's found in the hands of the producers and it doesn't directly affect the life of the common man. No they are not giving a cure for cancer to the masses, but the masses didn't have it to begin with. The problem with any other form of economics Is the Government gets in its own way and people are directly denied the cure to cancer by the corruption and greed of the government's ruling or inefficiencies. The only thing I need to point to in that is the USSR and China.
