Only been to the Jackson Metro area three times but I really enjoyed it every time. I am moving to some neighborhood called Cyprus Lake. Anyone know anything interesting or fun to do? I know Malco, the science and art museum, I am planning to go golfing or go to the planetarium. Anyways, I move on the January 16th and start on the 18th.

Jackson really sucks. We lived there when I was at umc. We lived in Fondren, which we liked, but that's the only area we really liked in the entire metro.

Not much to do really other than enjoying all the nice red bricks.

If you like to fish I highly recommend getting access to Lake Caroline. Great bass and crappie fishing.

Also, what law firm are you interning at?

I have not been to Jackson in years, but I lived there briefly about 15 years ago. There were some great underground blues clubs back then. Real old school stuff.

Shuckers out by the Reservoir is fun. There's another good bar (classier social bar) right by the medical school. I can't think of the name of it though.

Then you have Magoo's if you just want to get nasty at a club

Oh and Babe's and Danny's Gentlemans club

Fondren is a great place. Belhaven ain't half bad either. Northeast Jackson and Madison are great if you're in your 40's+ or have children.

I think Jackson has a lot of potential. It's just going to take a qualified city government and a citizenry that a) isn't horribly divided along socioeconomic lines and b) actually gives a shite.

So... yeah, that potential's probably going to go unrealized.

i feel like that the jackson mayor and government overall needs a lot of improvement. Cause Chuckwe or whatever seems insane

Sorry, man. It closed. I live in Belhaven. Fenian's is not bad. Be sure to eat at Keifer's sometime when you're in Jackson. There are a few other good non-chain places. If you can convert your internship into a full-time gig, you could end up getting paid pretty well. You'll put in a lot of hours, but that's just how it goes.

How do you get an internship if you failed the Bar? You can no longer be covered by the Third Year Practice Act...

Ahhhh... so you can't go in front of a judge or anything. You just do office work.

A lot of really smart lawyers work for a lawyer that didn't pass the bar on his first take (and this is coming from someone who did pass it on his first take). Good luck brother. Turtle wins the race.
