And the hackers are threatening to release credit card info, names, addresses and other information. Not enough in the world for this.

AshleyMadison.com, the site that lets people have extramarital affairs, has been hacked by a group who are threatening to reveal the identity of millions of registered users.
Krebs on Security reports that the hackers known as The Impact Team now have access to sensitive data stolen from the Toronto-based firm Avid Life Media (ALM) who own Ashley Madison as well as two other dating sites: Cougar Life and Established Men.
In a statement to ALM, the hackers said that if the company failed to completely shutdown Ashley Madison and Established Men, they would release "customer records, secret sexual fantasies, nude pictures, credit card transactions, real names and addresses as well employee documents and emails."

Just heard this on the radio. What shocked me is that they said they have over 37,000,000 registered users.....
Frick, that many people are cheating on their spouses? And that's just the ones using this site?
Breaks my heart

I'm sure many of those are duplicate accounts, fake accounts of some variety, and curious people who don't really go through with it physically.

That's my thinking as well.

Yeah after reading comments on reddit apparently the site is filled with bots.

But gay marriage ruins the sanctity of marriage

This will not end well....for a lot of people.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
If they release this info, I predict a temporary spike in various violent offenses.
I can honestly say that at no time would my name have ever been on this list. Too much self respect to ever cheat on anyone. I mean..it's simple. If you feel the need to cheat, either leave the person you're with or just straight up ask them to participate in an orgie.

Bingo. I'm not exactly a fan of how the information was obtained but I don't feel sorry for the people that cheated on their spouses using the site

The hackers -- or hacker, perhaps -- appear to be upset over the company's "full delete" service, which promises to completely erase a user's profile, and all associated data, for a $19 fee.
quote:
"Full Delete netted [Avid Life Media] $1.7 million in revenue in 2014. It's also a complete lie," the hackers were quoted as saying in a manifesto published by Krebs. "Users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real names and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed."
Ruh roh.. It appears those trying their best to hide actually left themselves exposed. I feel some blackmail coming on!
ETA: The Irony is, the very website that blackmailed them out of $19 will cause them to be blackmailed again.

When I saw the Ashley Madison commercial on TV, I was stunned that they would have the balls to advertise like that.

The first time I heard one of their ads was on XM. Fox News at that.

There is one they play on Sirius/XM where the husband catches the wife on Ashley Madison, and after they talk, she recommends he gets on there too.

I heard that too and laughed. I don't listen to Fox News on there much but I triggered.
