And Walmart still sucks despite your rant about other big box stores.

What's wrong with doing both?

I go to our farmers market in Fayetteville often. I go to Ozarks Natural Foods, a local company that will more than likely be pushed out the door by the new Whole Foods coming in.

Yeah, I spend a lot less money at the farmer's market actually. Good meat and seafood. Large selection of vegetables and fruits. Some even have a place where you can grab some lunch and it is usually really tasty.

It is a little out of the way for me, so I only go on the weekends and if I need any groceries during the week I go to Trader Joes.

What's wrong with not shopping at Walmart because apparently outside of everywhere but a handful of places they're absolute shite?

ETA: I never said you shouldn't shop at any big box store. I try to shop local as much as I can because I like to my money benefit local folks. Unfortunately you can't always do that. But Walmart is pretty bottom of the barrel and when you start a thread bragging about them I'm going to call it as such.

I would have less of a problem with Wal-Mart if they actually provided good paying jobs to Americans with benefits instead of shipping them overseas like assholes.

I knew some people who were from Europe and asked why our produce was so terrible over hear. I asked where they got it from and it was from Wal-Mart or Kroger. I had to tell them you have to go to farmer's markets to get the best.

Only things you have me on are gas and some clothes. Everything else is local. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

Nothing is hard to comprehend on my end.

Just pointing out, Walmart gets called out for supposedly putting local businesses out of business, yet all other big companies do the same.

For instance, Amazon or Walgreens.

I've heard ledgends of a man in a morph suit that occasionally appears at the Oxford wal mart and follows people around. Unfortunately, I don't go often so I've never seen him. Sounds pretty hilarious though. Oh, the people of wal mart.

The first article I posted is about Wal-Mart's "open call" for U.S. products and manufacturers at the HQ in Bentonville. They have announced a goal to buy $250 Billion in new U.S. products per year. They're responding to that criticism.

And like I said, I only use Amazon when I can't find something in a store and I do get my medicine from a local pharmacy. Those things are everywhere in every town. Wal-Mart, Walgreens and CVS aren't the only options. People only go there because it's easy.

What are your feelings on Costco? From everything I have read it's actually a great place to work and they treat their employees well.

Shut down the shops overseas and bring them to the US. Until then, they will be considered assholes by me.

It's a shame more people don't shop at farmer's markets. The produce is always top notch and they regularly have cheaper priced/better quality product then any of the box stores.

I agree. Fayetteville supports a great Farmer's Market, three times a week on the town square and Sundays at the Botanical Garden.

So, here it is....

Walmarts average pay to store employees is about $12.50...not bad considering most are not college educated.

Who is the largest employer in America?

I've never shopped at Costco to be honest. I've never seen one unless I'm on vacation. I'll have to check it out.

WM doesn't technically manufacture anything. They just buy. They are making a big push to buy more in the U.S.

How many hours does the average Wal-Mart employee have a week? What kind of health benefits do they receive?

Buy only US made products then instead of only buying a small percentage.

Walmart has shitty service, long lines, gross produce, nasty meat, and cheap (quality and price) goods.

This is why Walmart sucks. They generally hire the shittiest employees that have shitty work ethic and it shows in how dirty their stores are. I'd rather pay a little more at Publix where at least the employees act like they enjoy me being there spending my money.

Link to that, because most articles I've read list it well under that.
