Best line of the article, IMO...

"We are not aggressive," Putin said. "We are persistent in pursuing our interests."

Pisses me off. Not our problem. Would rather Germany, France, England(UK), Spain, Italy, etc take the lead since it's in their region.

Agreed. I just kind of skimmed the article, but it seems like we're sending tanks and armored vehicles to Eastern European countries for "exercises" - seems like something more in NATO's wheelhouse. But you know we are the world's peace=keepers.

That's how it gets started. Then when Russia really starts flexing their muscle, U.S. will send more.

Well, we are a charter member of NATO.

Aside from that, the French, German, and British armies combined don't match the numbers of the Red Army. If there's ever any heavy lifting to be done, the US would have to lead the way.

Aside from nuclear weapons, Russia has little muscle to flex. Navy is absolute shite, they don't spend nearly as much as we do on their military and their ''soldiers'' wouldn't give two shits to go fight in Ukraine.

We've handled two large-scale invasions simultaneously on the other side of the world.

Talking about individual countries taking the lead. Like the UK or Germany sending over their planes, tanks, troops or going into direct talks with Russia telling them to scale back. NATO is a joke.

Exactly. It would be nice to see one of our European allies committing to this, if not leading the effort. We all know thr US would do the heavy lifting if there were actually a conflict, but I would like to see someone else in the boat with us.

Well unless shite really hit the fan not a single one of those countries are going to budge from their couch.

I was in Spain last week and had some related discussion with some friends we have over there that kind of surprised me. They basically said that openly most of them like to shite on the U.S. For our aggressive military actions abroad, but that they all secretly are extremely thankful for our presence throughout the world and especially in the Middle East. They essentially admitted that they are thankful for us putting forth the effort to do their dirty work that they are incapable of doing either due to apathy or a lack of any coordination capabilities between their nations.

I've heard the same.

Yet some people think that's should adopt their lifestyle and tax rates and have their size military and isolationist policy.

Interesting how it's easy to shite on America and our way of life until you need some muscle and balls.

It was a nice time over there and they are really laid back and have a fun culture. But they are essentially like kids still living at home while their daddy goes in to work every day to keep paying the mortgage

Hate him if you want to but Putin has been and will be a great leader. I wish our top leadership were half the president that Putin is. The man will get what he wants.

This.

Russia isn't stupid. They will talk like they got a chest but when it comes down to it, they will not walk the walk. United States/NATO will run right over and through them, they know it as well as we do.
