Juneau-Douglas H.S. is the Crimson Bears. WTF?

That's right. I went to Hickman for high school. It's a great place, unique mascot for certain. But I tell you....the overcrowding was ridiculous.

Don't know if this has been said yet, but Kliff Kingsbury, head coach at Texas Tech, and former OC for the number one offense in the SEC, was a New Braunfels Unicorn.

Also, a town I found about working in the oilfield is the Cuero Gobblers. Funny way to say turkeys. Dunno if it's uncommon or not, I had just never heard of it.

I went to High School in TX many moons ago w/a boy who went to school in FL. His mascot was the "Sand Fleas" ;-)

Oh I got one. Down here around my neck of the woods. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it, but behold:

The Laurel Hill Hoboes

Always nice to give the kids something to aspire to

I had no idea if there was such a bird, but it turns out there is. Very pretty.

The best one in Arkansas in my opinion is the Deer Antlers.

We also have the Elkins Elks but that one isn't quite as good. The Winslow Flying Squirrels was another one of my local favs but the school got shut down due to consolidation.

I did not know the Squirrels were no more. The best two I liked were in Missouri,

West Plains Zizzers (sound of lightning supposedly)
SLUH Jr Bills or Rockhurst Hawklettes

East Union Urchins but their symbol is of a seahorse. Colors are brown and gold. Their all brown baseball uniforms were great
