a recent report by Politico said the former President’s fees typically ranged between $100,000 and $175,000 during those years.

One of the wounded vets who served on the charity’s board told ABC News he was outraged that his former commander in chief would charge any fee to speak on behalf of men and women he ordered into harm's way.

“For him to be paid to raise money for veterans that were wounded in combat under his orders, I don’t think that’s right,” said former Marine Eddie Wright, who lost both hands in a rocket attack inFallujah, Iraq in 2004.

“You sent me to war,” added Wright speaking of the former President. “I was doing what you told me to do, gladly for you and our country and I have no regrets. But it’s kind of a slap in the face.”

I don't have a problem with people making money on the lecture circuit. But it's kind of fricked up from a moral standpoint to charge to speak for a charity. I'm sure he's not the only to do it either.

The charity raised $2.45 million as a result of him speaking. Sounds like a bargain to me.

How much does Hillary charge for her speaking engagements?

Don't answer, don't even bother. Adolf Hitler was also a vegetarian.

She bought all the BS the Bush administration (Cheney) was feeding congress.

But it wasn't her decision to go to war. However, due to her yes vote I'll never vote for her.

Speaking and traveling fees for the former President were paid by the charity, but the amount was underwritten by a private donor, the charity lawyer said.

The charity, which helps to provide specially-adapted homes for veterans who lost limbs and suffered other severe injuries in “the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said the total $170,000 expenditure was justified because the former President and First Lady offered discounted fees and helped raise record amounts in contributions at galas held in 2011 and 2012.

quote:

According to the charity’s yearly reports to the IRS, it raised about $2,450,000, after expenses, from the 2012 gala where President Bush spoke. The following year, the gala netted the charity substantially less, about $1,000,000.

And scene.

He should be raising money for them, as should Cheney, the coward.

My problem is he shouldn't be charging a penny considering he got them into the bullshite.

And 808BASS to clarify in layman's terms and not to push the issue further, doesn't "underwritten by a private donor" say it all?

Indeed

In my understanding that would mean the Charity paid...nothing.

Indeed.

So TT9 is trying, and failing, to push a narrative, yet again?

My guess is that it went something like this:

Charitable Organization Person: Hey, I bet we could make a shite ton on our event this year if Bush showed up. Yanno, we checked and we can get him for $120k and if we get him, I'll bet we more than double our usual haul. Who's away?

Donor: Well, shite. I'll write the check for him to show up. Who do I make it out to? Are you going to putt first or me?

Nah she just lied about US citizens dying when they knew it was going to happen and she left them hanging.
