I mean I'm as anti-PC anti-affirmative action as anyone, but I don't see how anyone can say this is anything but a hate crime.

typing doesn't lend itself to sarcasm too well so i will just say that you are joking.

The worst csse that this should bring is something like disturbing the peace since this pissed off a lot of people. This is a piss poor joke that went over the line and wasn't received well at all, it should really just be dealt with by the school. The school could end up expelling them but in reality once the names and/or pictures are released, these kids won't be able to walk around the campus.

statue

Key word. It is a statue that had no permanent damage done to it. If they lopped the statues head off, I still wouldn't think it was a hate crime.

If they had lopped the head off, it would be less likely to have been interpreted as hate crime due to the history and symbolic nature of the act. It's very possible that they were playing what they thought was a harmless prank... But the message they sent was that African Americans are not welcome at Ole Miss and that they will be lynched like their forefathers. It's an act of terrorism.

I'm going to wade into this river of garbage for a bit to axe a ?. It seems like I read somewhere else that Meredith doesn't want OM using his likeness and would prefer the statue be removed. Is this true?

STORY 1.

White family stops in wrong part of town to get gas. Certain natives of this part of town tell white family "your in wrong part of town now your gonna pay". A mob forms knocks husband out punches wife and daughter when they come to check on them.

STORY 2. Three white kids do dumb and obscene things to a black mans statue.

One is hate crime one isn't guess which one is being pursued as hate crime. Here's some help it ain't #1. True stroy

Too bad the authorities don't put in as much effort when Christian icons, like statues of Christ, are vandalized.

I believe he doesn't like being associated with the Civil Rights movement.

His stance on his time at OM is "I was a student there. I graduated there" not "I was the first black student there".

Lol at everyone hating on Georgia because of this. They obviously left the place where they thought they would be around more like minded individuals. And I'm sure they got into UGA

When did "hate" become a crime?

Is it a felony? Do they send you to prison where you wear silly, ill-fitting pants?

I hate State.
