I don't regret it because I don't think Romney would be doing any better, and he was the only other practical choice. That's speculation, but it's my opinion.

If I had my druthers, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or Hillary would be in the oval office.

Probably never if you quite literally run the free world. I think yall have misplaced my intentions with this thread. I haven't tried to compare him to anyone. I just think taking vacation while publically bombing areas of the world is ridiculous.

KS, I'm no Bush supporter and have yet to ask or attempt to compare any past presidents.

I too voted for Obama, and regret it.

I can't speak for Obama but while Bush was at his ranch he had a secure setup to conduct business. So it's not all "vacation".

That said, trying to suggest that Obama not on vacation could've stopped an American captive from being beheaded is fricking retarded. Using that logic, why wasn't either Bush or Clinton able to stop it during their tenures? Bush spent more time at the ranch then Obama at the golf course. frick, Jimmy Carter vacationed less then any President since him and that certainly didn't stop his unmitigated shitshow with Iran and hostages.

No I don't regret it because I live in a backwards arse state so my vote didn't matter anyway.

It's really not. And believe it or not, "vacation" for presidents doesn't mean going off the grid like it does for normal people.

And you know I can't stand Obama.

I didn't ask for a comparison to other presidents. I spelled it out pretty clearly in the OP.

So you want us to make our opinions about a president in a vacuum without any point of reference or comparisons? That's just silly. I think you didn't realize how compared to other recent presidents, Obama really hasn't taken that many vacations and now you're trying to save face by telling us to ignore all the other people that it would make sense to compare him to.

Yea because I fricking said this. What are you even talking about?

Public/world perception in a time of crisis matters imo, when you run the free world.

Then if that's not what you're saying what difference does it make whether he was on a golf course or in the White House?

Whose perception? Yours? It seems like you're the only one here who can't grasp that a Presidential vacation isn't a spring break trip to PCB.

So you would have him pretend to look busy while actually being on vacation? That'd end well.

Or just not vacation at all? Or cut every vacation short when someone acts a fool? Even though these are very much working vacations?

I'm sorry, but your OP really just seems like whining. I'm all for a good Obama slam, but this is unreasonable.

God forbid someone judge someone on their own actions.

Again, I voted for Obama and despised Bush. I'm as progressive or whatever as they come. I just think taking vacation while the news is blasting pictures of an American journalist who is going to be killed due to air strikes...is a bad idea.

Not to mention the epic fail of ACA thus far.

I regret voting for him.

Of all the shite that Obama and friends have done over last 5 1/2 years, this is the thing I find the least offensive.

Come on man

Cool. Lots of people do.

If this is why you regret it, however, that's quite disingenuous. There are a plethora of more cogent reasons to regret putting him in office.

I'm not sure I understand the right's criticism of Obama being on vacation. On one hand they're all "Obama is the worst president in history, everything he does is terrible" and on the other hand they don't want a president this bad to take a day off? That's confusing.

18 holes of golf in this era of social media/time of crisis is a terrible idea and I'd expect the POTUS to have better judgement.

And keep thinking I'm alone in my line of thinking due to the secr's opinions. Great sample size!

I agree. Voted for Obama in '12 b/c I just
didn't like Romney. Let the president finish his
term, then make a judgement on his administration.

This was one of many reasons and the most recent.

Hence the timing of the thread.

So when do you think it's a good time for a President to take a vacation given there is pretty much always a crisis (in someone's eyes at least) going on?

I know I'm not the only one to see how the Presidency can physically age a man. Would you rather him never vacation, kill over, and have Biden up to bat?
