1) 3 herniated discs pressing nerve roots into bone & causing nerve pain & back muscle spasms so intense & horrible that moving an inch or breathing is so painful, you hyperventilate.
2) back labor - when torturous cramping abdominal labor pain experienced before giving birth moves into the lower back and the stabbing, shooting sensation feels like literally being stabbed in the back must feel, and causes otherwise calm, "I can handle the pain" patient scream for the doctor with the huge needle & catheter and beg him to stick it in her back to shoot the glorious numbing liquid gold into her spine (actually, right outside of it). ... Back labor pain is so bad (passing out would have been welcomed), I actually cried with relief when I saw the epidural needle, which looked to be as long as my forearm, & never even felt it or the catheter going into my back.

I have had a few, most of them I can just pass at work. My largest was 8.5mm passed without lithotripsy. Unfortunately it was elongated and the doc said it looked smaller on film. It stopped up my pisshole for a second until it finally shot out and make a "plink" sound on the back of the toilet

I have had 16 kidney stones!
One night I was sleeping and rolled over in my sleep and felt excruciating pain in my lower legs radiating up my back. Had my wife take me to the hospital where the doctors indicated that I had ruptured my L5/S1 disc, and in addition to that was diagnosed with having another freaking kidney stone! Morphine to the rescue.
