Well my original point was the nobody had defined the term, the i was curious about the math comment in the provided definition.
someone just answered that, although that sounds a lot like difference in a philosophical belief than math. But I see what he was getting at.

That's because it is.
Unless someone is going to produce a mathematical proof.

now that would be worth talking about.

The philosophical difference or mathematical proof?
I want no part of the proof.
I want no part of the proof.

I was thinking proof.
The philosophical difference I am sure will lead nowhere that hasn't been discussed before.
My opinion on socialism is that the best economies have elements of it in the correct places and in the correct amount. Since we are talking about economics I am sure everyone is familiar with the marginal value trends seen. My feelings mirror that.

I mean, There's no way to mathematically prove it and if it existed not a soul here would understand it. Models are only moderately useful.
I agree with your line of thinking though. There's a balance to be struck between government/state and private enterprise. All of our debates really come down to where is that sweet spot.

If you're asking me to provide a mathematical equation proving socialism fails, that's beyond my skills .

No I was just asking you what your inability to do math comment meant.

Oh ok. Could have simply said that without calling me a liar. What I meant was, people who think you can multiply wealth by dividing it fail at math.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for.
I realize this goes more towards the philosophical argument.

the only argument to make against that, and just for the sake of providing a point, is that the level of lets say productivity lost from those who would have worked harder without the gov support and those who would have worked harder if they got to keep what the killed so to speak would have to offset the increase efficiency in which the opposing system operates.
ETA: the liar thing was just offhanded from an SNL sketch
