What kind of dog do you have?
Bassett hound mix, so she loves to sniff.
True story, we have a rabbit that comes into our yard at dusk and sits in the same spot every night like clockwork. My dog will be freaking out and I'll look outside and the rabbit is just sitting there laughing at her.

Are you one of those people who crop dust and then blame the dog?

Au contraire, if the dog farts I usually claim it.

Fill a hole full of ashes and sprinkle frozen peas around it.
When the beast comes up to take a pea kick it in the ash hole

I am not a hippy but I am crapping in a bucket and due to lack of water I am getting smelly so there are parallels.

Let me guess, you get the noise when you flip the switch on the wall next to your sink.

So the thing living in my basement died and now there's a horrible stench, gotta leave the windows open all day to get some air flow. Anyone know the decomposition rate for a possum/cat/coon?

For a mouse it's about 3 weeks.
LMAO at the Fletch reference.

In college, I had a raccoon die in the attic. The landlord had to come remove it for us, and the stench was horrible. We couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from at first, but by the second day, we couldn't stay in the house anymore.

I had a family of coons in my attic last year. 2 mommas and 4 pups. I trapped both the mommas and put a .22 in their heads. Luckily the pups were old enough to get out of the attic on their own, and while they were gone I sealed off where they were getting in. Never saw the pups again.

I was coating a fireplace smoke chamber with a ceramic coating all while two raccoons were above the damper plate. Of course I had no idea they were there until they started crawling up the flue tile.
Moral of the story, if you have a fireplace, keep good caps on them.
