I know exactly under what circumstances racism arose in the South.

True. But forensics can shed some light on the scenario and rule out certain scenarios.

Things forensics have ruled out:

TM was shot in the back, as a witness said.
TM had the gun pressed against him as the State said.


Things forensics have confirmed:

TM was on top of Zimmerman at the time of the shot.
The shot was from a distance that could corroborate defense testimony.
The defendant sustained head injuries.
TM had almost 4 minutes to get home (less than 400 ft away), after Zimmerman lost sight of him, and when the confrontation began.


Things that were brought out during proffers but not allowed into evidence:

TM attempted to purchase and sell firearms.
TM vandalized school property.
TM had what officers described as burglary tools.
TM bragged about fighting and winning and complaining he didn't draw enough blood after hitting his opponent in the nose.

Wut? I do, but what does that have to do with whether those tweets are racist or not?

Let's not pretend that racism started with slaves in the United States. Save us the lecture

If a white man were to tweet "I'm gonna kill me a little black boy" would that be racist? Hell yes it would be. It shouldn't be any different if a black guy said it

Mixed White/black/Hispanics like Zimmerman were responsible for it.

They first used Native Americans, but they died off too easily b/c of disease. Then they began purchasing slaves from African slaveholders. The idea of formal, legal racism didn't really come along until the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, when we were supposed to be a nation where all men were free. This is when the South started to argue that blacks were less than human, and didn't deserve Constitutional rights. For the next 90 years, it continued to get stronger. When the slaves were freed, the complete dominance over blacks was no longer there, so it turned into hate: hate that led to societal dominance. But that still doesn't mean that you have to have power to be racist

I think the crux of his argument, is that if blacks can't be the only victims of racism, then the cottage industry, that is perpetuated by the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and to a lesser degree, the BPP is hurt.

And that's relevant to today, and this trial and thread, because.......

and what does that have to do with anything discussed in this thread
