It doesn't just float around loose. It stands up in a locking rack between the front seats. There's a button on the control panel for the lights, siren, and opticom to release it. I'm sure that your Sig will do just fine....out to about 40 yards. After that, it's a crap shoot as to whether you can hit anything.

Ah, well that's fancy. My car is unmarked to say the least. Radio, hand held, stays in the console. Guns in the trunk vault with the vest and such. I'll be happy when I can start wearing the damn thing. Wouldn't do that much good right now though.

If I need to shoot more than 40 yards away something has gone really sideways. The .380 with the hydrashok would be the one I'd most likely be using.

And bearsfan, it's the new cheap version, ump.

Lemme get this straight....you're carrying a Sig P230 or P232 as a PRIMARY weapon?!?!? Then you have a pistol caliber SBR as your long gun? You serious, Clark? Whoever is making decisions at your agency regarding firearms needs to be fired. The only people at my agency that carry .380's are Commanders who spend their days at the station going over policies, budgets, procurement, etc. Hell, even when I was undercover I never carried anything smaller than a Glock 27. You need to seriously reconsider your choice of armament.

Hey Gator how is the new H&K different (what's the new one called)? It a shame they went cheap but hey it's the Federal government so what would you expect.

The best thing I ever did was learn to shoot on worn out Berretta 92FS's and Colt M-16's (trust me if you can shoot expert on weapons that had been through numerous TBS classes you can shoot). When I went TAD to Southcomm and got the super nice stuff it was like going from an old Black&White boob tube TV to an LED HDTV. Big difference in your overall accuracy.

Never got into different "grains" that much as compared to calibers because you had no choice in things unless you were a sniper. My though process is give me 3-5 shots with whatever ammo you have and I will adjust accordingly out to 300-500 yards (especially now with the red dot scopes because they do make a significant difference in acquiring and shooting a target).

No, technically my primary is a Sig 226, but the .380 is more practical and more likely to be useful for what I do. Highly concealable etc... I don't need a .40 to shoot inside a car.

The odds of me needing a traditional long gun in my setting are very unlikely. The UMP is great for houses and buildings. Way more maneuverable and it'll put someone down just fine.

Oh, and Glocks are awful.

Also, if you haven't picked up on it, I'm not out doing traffic stops.

ETA: bearfan, it's not really new new, but it's the newer model of the mp5. It's not a bad gun. I just like the MP5 better.
