Most of your Islamic moderates are some of the nicest, most hospitable people you will ever meet. Kindness to strangers is commanded in the Quran.

It's found somewhere in between kill the infidel and rape their women.

Ok. I kid. But, seriously, if you saw Lone Survivor, the villagers were acting in Quran when they guarded Luttrell.

So in summary, are you saying that if they had done the job right back in 1270 we wouldn't have to worry about terrorists?

BTW, thanks for the summary

So I guess those in northern Africa remember the Romans or those in most of Europe still hold a grudge against Mongolia.

Nah-that was tribal. Pashtunwali-the way of the Pashtun.

The book went into it quite a bit. I can't remember what the movie said about it (I fell asleep because it paled in comparison to the book), but if it linked it to the Quran, that's revisionist.

Dude. Seriously. I think Islam as a whole is a cancer, but to dismiss that Quran calls for hospitality to outsiders is being willfully ignorant.

Just like Christianity as we have seen. So what you really mean is religion is a cancer and an opium for the masses. Speaking of opium.....soon enough.

I'm not saying it doesn't-read better. I am saying that Marcus Luttrell was granted quarter not because of any reading of the Quran, which is what you indicated, but because Pashtun tribal custom dictated that if an outsider was granted hospitality, his presence in the community would be defended. Pashtunwali predates Islam in Afghanistan. At no point in the book does Luttrell attribute his safety in the village to the Quran.

The fact is, had the villagers followed the Quran, they would have turned the infidel over to the Islamic fighters. Instead, they stuck to their tribal beliefs and defended Marcus Luttrell.

STFU-really. Welcome to the 21st century. The Muslims are still living in the 7th century.

Tell us about the fall and pillaging of Constantinople and the raping and murdering of its inhabitants by the Ottoman armies, or about the atrocities by the Moors in Spain, please.

Please go back to the heroin den from which you escaped to cut and paste articles trying to equate modern Islamic terrorism with the Crusades.

Damn, did they do what the christians do and make a religious proclamation that they would go free the holy land only to go into Germany kill a few thousands jews, then loot rape and murder a few christian cities along the way so by the time they got to Jerusalem the jews were fighting along side the muslims to keep the terrorists out. Ah.... the truth of history. But of course if it stopped there it wouldnt be worth much now, but as we will see it got worse.

Well, "religion is the opium of the masses" was coined by Karl Marx, who also invented communism (for intents and purposes) and propagated the most destructive belief system in human history, basically that we should destroy all religion and customs no matter how many people we have to kill so that one day we can all be collectively equal (who's left of us, anyway). He also coined the term "holocaust" and advocated that all Scots, Slavs, and Gypsies be exterminated because they were, as he put it, "racial trash."

I'll be happy to discuss more fun quotes from Karl Marx if you like.

That's cute. I'm not the one dropping one of the most tired one-liners in human history. Your Fox News zinger is further proof of your sophomoric attitude. Carry on.

Anyone who quotes Marx and is giddy about it can rot in a shallow grave for all I care. That animals world views ruined Eastern Europe.

So before we move on does any one want to take a few educated tries as to why the Crusades for the Holy Land were nothing but propagandized tools when we see what they were actually really about? Instead of religion try maybe a different angle. Governmental or fight for resources maybe. Something that is actually an educated reason other than the typical religious bullshite. Ive seen one good short response thus far. Just thought we had some more educated people in here.

Well we went from the potato famines which saw a christian empire shun its neighbors actually stealing their food and blocking any help allowing to starve to death by the millions. To a fake religious war that turns out to be nothing more than looting, interior political quarreling, and the massacring of the people they were suppose to be helping. Soon we will move on to how these empires deal with the rest of world.
