the other problem with the cop citizen relationship is the bad cops aren't punished as often as they should be. the good cops don't speak out often about bad cops needing to be kicked from the force.
I don't see much changing though because the prison system and drug bust are big business. Cops and citizens alike would probably be safer if we loosened up drug laws.
That's probably one of the best explained short tort responses I have seen.

The CJ system has a lot at stake in keeping the status quo. Unfortunately they sacrifice safety of officers and civilians alike, lose respect of the population and create criminal enterprise in the process.

the true thugs on both sides of the line prosper while good citizens and the true good officers suffer.
The ATF, ATC and other groups have the blood of innocent cops on their hands, the blood of innocent people killed in botched warrants on their hands, and the blood of the constitution on their dicks.
I don't know if they have broken down stats on all of this stuff but I wonder how it would look if you checked out all the officer deaths from traffic stop just to see how many were guy with drug warrant or drugs in the car vs. just a random citizen going crazy for being stopped.

the cop defenders will blame everyone but the actual officers that pulled the trigger. they will blame the 80 year old, they will blame the intel side but no blame is put on the trigger puller because dammit his job is dangerous. sure it isn't top 10 dangerous in the country but emotion means more than stats.

Interesting bump...but that article clearly states that IA concluded that she shouldn't have been punished for that prior incident.

No he's an elitist minded a-hole in real life, it's a certainty.
Bottom line with all of this, police have lost the right to have their word be taken without question. That inherent right should be lost. Too many bad apples ruined it.

Right. I'm pretty certain that she'll be "cleared" in this new incident as well. I think that says more about the process than it does about the officer's judgment and ability.
So, she's discharged her weapon twice at unarmed people (at least that's what it looks like at the moment) and will be "cleared."

I don't care about that. He's having his raison d'être challenged and it's not going well on the reality versus fantasy scoreboard. He'll either develop a cognitive dissonance or change his raison d'être.
