Sailor Jerry is good, but I prefer Captain Morgan 100-proof. It's much better than the regular 80-proof stuff. I just shoot and chase with Coke Zero.
I drink Bourbon that's over 120 proof, so I might like the higher proof rum. I will look for it.
Still not too interested in mixing drinks, though. Would rather just pour and enjoy neat.

If you can find it, Mount Gay rum is very smooth. It is made in Barbados and I had it there last summer for the first time. Brought several bottles home.
I'll look for it. Thanks.

Just found out Calico Jack Rum is based off real life pirate and Black Sails character, Jack Rackham. Gonna have to try a bottle just for that. :

- Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve (aged 9 years) at 120 proof
- Four Roses Single Barrel, Barrel Strength at 126.2 proof.
Both very good.

I've never seen either one. I'll be on the lookout

Had some of the Four Roses over Mardi Gras. Good shite.

Definitely. I am fortunate to live near a liquor store that might have the largest selection of hand picked, privately selected Bourbon in the USofA.
They send a very experienced team of Bourbon enthusiasts (not me, alas) to the various distilleries, where they test 100s of barrels and buy the best barrels they can find which are then bottled exclusively for this particular liquor store. It's really good stuff, to say the least.
Regardless, though, you should be able to find Knob Creek and Four Roses Single Barrel around if you look hard enough.
It's worth the effort, imvho.

Indeed. I was touting their Single Barrel edition above, but I absolutely love Four Roses Small Batch which is a bit cheaper and comes in at 90 proof. Out-frickin'-standing Bourbon, imvho.

So - suggestions? And I don't need hip or flavor of the month suggestions or the latest rum fad that costs more than it's worth. Give me some solid suggestions of good rum at a reasonable price based on quality and I shall have at it.
I'm quite partial to Pampero Anniversario. It's an Anejo made in Venezuela with a nice flavor and is a great value! Comes in a short roundish bottle inside a leather bag. Give it a shot. More later...

There you go. I will look for it. And look for the more later.

Alright, I'm partaking of some Pampero Anniversario right now.
Not bad. Definitely different taste profile than the Bacardi Anejo. But I like it.

Glad you do, having a jot of that myself tonight!

If you're wandering through a liquor store and happen to see either the Ron Zacapa 23 or the Demerara Eldorado 15 yr, you might consider giving one of them a whirl if the price is agreeable with you...

If your looking to drink it like whiskey go dark... (with coke, neat, etc).... if you want fruity go clear... or even flavored. that's about all you need to know.

Interdasting. I dont know many people who are bourbon drinkers who also like scotch. Tennessee whiskey, yes. Scotch usually not.

Scotch is third on that list. Actually, it's fourth. I like Irish whiskey (Jameson, Bushmills, Knappogue Castle) better than Scotch. And it will likely soon be fifth, thanks to rum.
I will keep some Scotch around (local Sam's Club has a great deal on Macallan 12 and Glenlivet 12 and I recently received some JW Black as a gift), plus I'll try new/different Scotch's when the opportunity arises.
But I do understand why Bourbon drinkers aren't huge fans of Scotch. I just want to keep an open mind.
