It's mentioned in the same book. They are both claimed to be sins. Your God decided at one point that eating bacon was a sin, right? And he changed his mind? There are people that could have lived their lives in Old Testament times, eating bacon a few times a day, and he was going to hell, wasn't he? But if he did that today, he wouldn't be?
It isn't about "equating" anything. It's about literal meaning. Unless that translations having been severely butchered, and I don't think God/Baby Jesus would let that happen to his divine words, I don't think I'm stating anything that should be taken as argumentative. Merely fact.

ETA: Bacon that is, not homosexuality.

well after re reading, I think my edit came across as more offensive than the original. I'm just going to remove and cut my losses.

You didn't mean to imply that God might have reconsidered homosexuality being a sin if he had tried taking it in the butt?
Posted on 4/23/14 at 4:24 pm to Vols&Shaft83
no i did not mean to imply that at all.
I'm glad you understand Eddie Vols, I hope you will be friends with my alter once Eddie is no more.

I don't think eating bacon was ever "classified" a sin. The guidelines that you speak of that involved bacon was a list of things not to do to keep away from disease and other such things because it was believed in the Old Testement that swine carried diseases like some birds do today.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that homosexuality wasn't in the same context. Homosexuality is mentioned first in the town of Sodom and Gamorrah (sp). As I have previously mentioned though, I do not claim to be a bible scholar.

The translations weren't "butchered" so to speak, but there have been numerous occasions in which the Greek and Latin original text weren't converted to English correctly. It has been well documented that the King James Version that is used today is quite different than the original because King James changed a number of things on purpose to say what he wanted it to say.
ETA: To seek out the real meaning of many passages, Biblical Scholars go back and translate the original text. I wouldn't expect you to do the same when attempting to poke holes in it though.

"What also chaps my arse, some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say 'we as a church do not believe in that.' Which one of these motherfrickers talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?"
"OK, so two cats can't get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to fricking prison, and accept God and He's going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that shite? See that's all horseshite to me, that don't jive with me."

sounds like Steve Austin has never opened a bible.

Most likely
I agree with his premise as far as homosexuality goes, but his comment is theologically incorrect if one assumes the bible to be the authority on such matters.
It actually bothers me when people twist what the bible says, or just flat out make things up, in their quest to discredit it. It does a disservice to intelligent debate because it just allows christians to assume that nonbelievers are ignorant of the faith and dont believe solely because they havent invested enough time in learning about god instead of the many other actual reasons that exist for not following the bible. Then debate is then no longer about the merits if the bible, but about christians trying to educated the biblically ignorant on why their beliefs about the bible are wrong and they would believe if only they knew the "truth".

Gay people can still go to heaven right?
Yes, they definitely can, BUT most homosexuals aren't really Christians so they won't be going to heaven if they aren't saved.

Do I have to drink from the same water fountains as homosexuals in heaven?
