The details of the incident are not clear. According to Ferguson police department, there are no dash cameras in Ferguson police cars.[5] The young man was unarmed. The scuffle involved three people: Brown, one policeman, and at least one other person. [6] Both the press conference by the police as well as eyewitness testimony describe the event as starting with an initial scuffle within the police car where a shot was fired [7], and then the police shot Brown multiple times [8] from about 35 feet away [9] as the two were running away. [10] According to a San Antonio ABC station, Brown was shot shortly after 2PM [11]

This is a valid reason to shoot him.

From 35 ft away?

From what I read he had fought with a police officer over his weapon and then proceeded to try and run away.

frick 'im. Any dude willing to kill a cop at close range is better off dead.

Barring the cop being corrupt and trying to kill him -- but we'll go ahead and say that this probably wasn't the case.

Depends, from what I've read so far, no.

Once he ceases to be an active direct threat you have to deescalate your force. I'm sure they'll argue he posed an immediate potential threat to those around him though which would justify it.

The police said he was unarmed. They just said he tried to take the cops gun and then the cop shot him when he was 35 feet away.

I'm not buying the whole "he tried to take the cops gun story" but even if you buy it, the cop still shot him multiple times when he was 35 feet away with his hands up.

Before I express outrage in one way or another, I'm gonna let the facts come out.

Not a fan of cops, specifically Rebelgator, but let's calm down and act like human fricking beings before we declare jihad.

I'd like to see some physical evidence of it. I'm not immediately discounting it. If it's true, the information should have been released almost immediately. Not 24 hours later.

Problem is, the actual facts may never come out. The police will give their biased version, and any eyewitnesses will give their biased view.

You were there? You know how many times he was shot? You don't know shite. Stop pretending.

I'm not sure exactly how many times but from the horse's mouth it was "more than a couple of times." How many shots fired and how many exactly hit the kid I don't know.

The normal rule of thumb is double whatever the officer said, so 2=4 etc... I doubt it got to 10 though, much less all ten were hits from 35ft.

Well I'm still reserving judgment until more facts come out, like a human fricking being.

Well, we know they didn't shoot him for no goddamn reason close to 2 PM in the daytime with witnesses around.

He definitely did something, with all of the media around these days (they were ignorant of themselves being recorded) there's no way they just wily nilly kill an unarmed dude without any justification whatsoever.

Common sense and all. I wish all these police-haters could be shipped off to an island together to live unrestrained by the man.

I don't doubt there was some sort of confrontation at the police car. The way the County tried to make it sound was that Brown pushed the cop back into his car and went for his gun. Just not buying that spin on it. I could buy a shove the officer and run. I could buy the cop pulling his gun on jaywalkers and the kid trying to go for the gun in defense of himself. The kid out of the blue forcing the cop back into his car and going for his gun...difficult to swallow. But like you said, we shall see.

We like to believe this. There's really no reason to be completely certain of it.

Britain tried that already.
